Rumour Future of the club (Bevo, board, assistant coaches, football department)

Just heard a rumour that Damien Barrett has had a throbbing erection for the last 24 hours that he can’t get rid of for some reason
So we should look forward to some purple prose this week.

Mark this down as the week we get pick 7 instead of 11 in the draft and make out like thieves and west coast cost themselves a future hall of fame pick 1
Now we keep 7 trade pick (17 brissy and future 1 st and pick up mckercher and Wilson both goi g to be a graders kicking it to our young forwards 😊

He's the club's last remaining PR ace (at least on the men's AFL side of things). Has to carry the sins of the players, the coaches and the administrators ... and still go out and play a game of footy. I hope he has strong shoulders. That he's even in the running for a Brownlow is pretty amazing.
If he doesn't win this year's Brownlow, the club has essentially prevented him from becoming a two-time medallist by the age of 27.

2021, he didn't poll for the last four rounds when the entire team shit the bed. One BOG performance (adding to the 9x3vote games he had already had) would've won it for him).

Who knows how it'll pan out this year. I think he needs one more 3 vote game to make it a 50/50 chance. Should get at least 2 from yesterday, maybe even the 3, but it really could be anything.

Those close games we have lost will cost him multiple 3 vote games

And get an attacking coach Pyke

Perhaps yesterday's loss was a ploy by Bevo to get the team up for a surprise win in Geelong on Saturday. That would break his losing streak there and launch us into the Finals!

I'm sure he's thinking Brownlow Shmownlow at this point. What a shame he won't be able to enjoy it as much if he wins.

The crazy thing is that if we developed just one player like a Finn Mcguiness and played a heavy tag we would be comfortably 3-4 more wins in the bank.

4 close loses, Gold Coast Suns (Rowell), Collingwood (Daicos), Hawthorn (Newcombe), West Coast Eagles (Kelly). Been dominated by one opposition mid who we have just let roam free all game. Even Gulden could have got a tag against swans.

We would been at least having a home elimination final on just that one simple change/plan. It doesn’t fix everything but since Petracca ripped us apart in 2021 and we didn’t both reviewing the game…. We haven’t addressed this simple flaw.
And this is why I don't buy the 'we're overachieving with this list' line.

Yes we have holes, as do most teams, but we've had the cattle to be a chance in every game since round 2.

And for me the difference had been at the selection table, planning and strategy and game day moves.

These are mainly issues that emit from the head coach.

Yesterday was more than a bad loss. The team tanked. It was as clear as anything Melbourne or Carlton did. Broken tackles, missed handballs and other basic skill errors. The players have checked out.
It was disastrous, but the worst case is it happens again against Geelong and there’s more justification for taking action.

We have lost 9/9 games by 22 points or less since the Rd 2 debacle.

One of those games we lost by 22 points we kicked 10 goals 15 behinds (3 more scoring shots than Geelong).

Basically in every game with about 4-5 minutes to spare. Every time. We aren't often getting outclassed. We just need tweaks to the game plan to probably grab 4-5 of those results and put us close to top 4.

It's not a list problem. As you said, selection, gameplan, in game coaching costing us wins.

Surely Anthony Scott or Bailey Smith could have been taught how to play a lock down role at some point this season.

Surely Weightman should have been taught he's more valuable at the front of the pack rather than competing in the air with Naughton and Lobb.

Surely Naughton should be convinced he's more valuable to the team down back in certain situations (GWS for instance)

All this is coaching, not a poor list

For Weightman, Jones, West, Clarke and McNeil etc etc I would seek out Luke Bruest as an assistant/development coach (if he does not play on)

He knows how to play all their potential roles and work in with a C.Rioli

All I saw was 10 blokes who are passionate about the club they love and not accepting mediocrity. About time the players got a blast from someone, we all know Bevo wouldn’t do it. The fact that a lot of you lot are so calm about the loss today says a lot of what is wrong with the majority of our ‘fans’. Embarrassing are the fans that accept this garbage, you are the ones who should be ashamed of yourselves, nothing ever changes in this club because your types never have a voice and speak up. MEDIOCRITY OUT
You and the other supporters who were involved in this should be ashamed of yourselves. The players are real people and they're entitled to respect. And your assertion that abusing people brings out the best in them would be laughable if you weren't so utterly offensive.

Nail on the head.

2021 GF - let him run around unchecked to rack up 39 & kick 2

2022 R1 - let him run around unchecked to rack up 38 & kick 2

These were in consecutive games FFS.
