Opinion Five Worst AFL Player Tattoos

Was reading an AMA on reddit about a tattooist and the tattooist and another poster were mocking some types of tattoos - tramp stamp, tribal wraparound on bicep - for being dated and were comparing it to the new hot trend (apparently) of lettering on ribs.

They both seemed blissfully ignorant that due to the explosion in popularity of tattoos, and y'know, their permanency, we'll be looking back in a few years and mocking those with one sleeve tattoo, woollen beanie, and over-sized v-neck shirt.

Pitty this is about AFL players,

Some more try-hards for your list ...

Winston Churchill

Franklin D. Roosevelt
King Alexander of Yugoslavia
King Frederick IX of Denmark

King George V
George Orwell

Thomas Edison

Also, have a read of this article for a few myth busting facts ...

Okay smartarse I knew these people had tatoos and I was commenting on the current craze as a matter of fact and a person posted much the same as me. People today are making a fashion statement and if you do not have one, it is percieved as strange. Dont let that part of my comment get in the way of showing off what you consider you all to powerful knowledge. .............abit tryhard to me.

Wow, someone is a bit touchy about it... I have tattoos and frankly i couldn't care less if you have them or not. I understand your point and yes some people get them as a fashion statement but you really shouldn't assume everyone that gets them does it for purely superficial reasons, even very generic looking tattoos could have a deeper meaning to the person with them.

Lol.

I didn't know, I had to look it up, but I was just pointing out your generalisation was wrong.

I was commenting on the current craze as a matter of fact and a person posted much the same as me.

What?

People today are making a fashion statement

What utter rubbish ... you have no idea why any of the people you single out has a tattoo.

if you do not have one, it is percieved as strange.

More rubbish, and says a lot about you.

Dont let that part of my comment get in the way of showing off what you consider you all to powerful knowledge. ..........

Hang on - you were the one that said "I knew these people had tattoos" - does that mean you like showing off your "powerful knowledge"? I just think this idea that tattoos somehow are "try hard" and identify you as a person - is bullocks.

...abit tryhard to me.

WTF are you on about?

Your own or other names, most words and letters anyway, palm trees, faces of real people, angels wings really hard to tell what is worse. Spiderman's camel toe is bad, too. Without having a real close look I really like those sleeves best. Also in Swan's case it is starting to be too much now, ...

I know Dustin Martin's neck tatts aren't everyones favourites but is it where the tatts are on his body that people don't like or the actual tattoos themselves?

From memory, they are Maori words for the name of his ancestral tribe and their meeting spot? Given they have special cultural meaning to Martin, I'm not too sure why people hate them so much. If my understanding is correct, its not uncommon for some cultural/tribal peoples to have neck tattoos.

As a friend said to me a while back - at least he got something that has some wider significance to him - that's infinitely better than someone getting a random Chinese symbol/tribal tattoo just for the sake of it because 'it looks cool'.

the one on his neck looks terrible.
Looks like he has a tie on and needs to loosen it asap but it's thing so fair enough but strange place to have a tattoo imo.

An intelligent bogan with cash. Money can't buy class and taste. They look shit.
What is it about people defending tatts crap on about people assuming that are criminals and drug users etc?

We just think you lack class.

Was down at my local Westfield today. Just bogans everywhere with tatts. Just **** off already you bunch of try hards.

Putting a tatt on your neck is just plain dumb. He's not a Rhodes Scholar so it's probably not going to affect his post football employment prospects, but the whole thing just reeks of "I think I'm a bad kent" and "look how rebellious I am. Body of a 28 year old, mind of a 15 year old"

Youre a loser mate. His tattoo isnt some fashionable wanky crap like every other play has in the league, its a memoir tatt of a loved one. Its for himself, and nobody else.

So it's for himself but he can't see it? Sort of suggests it's to show other people how much he respects his bro.

Not blessed with brains are you champ.
