Line ball, but probably worth a week.

It's not like Kirk ducked his head at the last momment, Fev lined him up for at least 2 meters while he Kirk had his head over the ball. That was a neck injury waiting to happen.

You just can't let that sort of incident off without giving him a week to think about the damage he could have done.

Rubbish. Pickett got wiped for 6 for doing a similar thing. Could kill someone with that sort of thing. Deserves the 2 weeks. Dirty sniper.

Thats crap!! He did nothing wrong.

What is it going to take for people like you to realise what Fevola did was potentially dangerous? You cannot hit a player front on when he has his head over the ball. That's what happened to Neil Sachse in 1975 and he ended up a quadriplegic.

Players have a duty of care on the football field. Fevola's actions were dangerous, and the AFL has to get its' point across somehow to the players, and also to some thickhead supporters who think what Fevola did was okay.

You continue to be the definition of clueless. I think I will call you Alicia Silverstone from now on.

yeah i love the fev, but rightfully so he got suspended. He had enough time to adjust his run a bit and tackle him comming from side on. I was at the game, and yes it is a bit stiff and unfair, but that aggression puts the player with his head over the ball and doing the right thing under severe danger. This is something the football community is trying to protect with the new holding the ball interpretations ruining it.

The whole bloody game is potentially dangerous. Fevola wasn't to know that Kirk would fumble and not stand up while he was going after him. He also tried to soften the impact and in the end pushed him down with his hands on Kirk's shoulders. Do you think someone should be suspended because they could have hit someone in the head? On that basis, everytime two players are on a collision course with each other, they should pull out of the contest.

Fev kicked the ball through, chased his own ball, saw it was going to Kirk, tried to get to Kirk before he could dish the ball off. Kirk fumbled, ducked his head and failed to stand, Fev realised he was going to make clumsy contact and tried to protect Kirk from the impact.

In effect you are saying that Fev should have checked his run until Kirk got up. Once Kirk was on his feet with a second to spare, he would have dished off to support and Fev would have missed an opportunity to regain possession. It was an unforeseen event that caused the incident and if Fev is to be taught a lesson for it, you will see him getting dragged to the phone for not applying pressure in future. It was unfortunate but hardly the crime you are making out.

Footy is tough, accidents happen, the ball does funny things and players don't always do what you expect them to.

Break out the bubble wrap.

You can become a quadriplegic by taking a screamer and landing awkwardly. All sports have risk. How much do you want to sanitise the game?

It was purely accidental. These things are gonna happen, and I think this incident was at the lower scale of things.
