Petition for AFL to fund a Touk Miller and Noah Anderson breeding program

The SEQ AFL Juniors website says both Kai Rischitelli and Harrison Malceski played for the Broadbeach U11s team last night. Both potential future Father-Suns, but only one is an official Father-Son (Rischitelli). I'd imagine both will join the Suns Academy next year when the initial U12s intake rolls around.

Father-Sun Sam Harris (Calder Cannons/Pascoe Vale) got selected to play for Vic Metro U16 team and is draft eligible in 2026. Granted, foundation Sun Daniel Harris only played 11 AFL games for us and 149 games for the Roos, but it's still the first son of a former Gold Coast player that appears to be on track to be drafted. I'm sure North have their eyes on him but it would be a cool story if he found his way to Carrara.

Good news on our father-sun front. Kai Rischitelli was named best on ground in the AFLQ Schools Cup Primary Male grand final yesterday. That means his school won the state championship and he was voted the best player. Another son of a former Sun, Harry Malceski, also played in that winning grand final. Both should join our academy intake next year.

What if he decides Brisbane over Gold Coast

Then we've failed at the first hurdle and won't get another crack for another five years. We've seen how crucial father-son picks can be in the last few years with players like Nick Daicos, Will Ashcroft and Darcy Moore playing starring roles in premiership teams. You could say they were all highly rated players anyway, which would be true, but Josh Daicos wasn't rated highly at all when he was drafted with pick 57 and he developed into a star AA midfielder in a premiership year for the Pies. So I'm very much in favour of drafting father-son picks if they show at least some potential to be an AFL player. Helps to build that generational culture within the four walls.

Kai Rischitelli seems to be friendly with Harrison Malceski so hopefully the two of them opt to join us (if they are good enough) when the time comes. They've both got father-son options elsewhere, but I'd like to think we will have experienced some on field success in the next five years and that spurs them on to turn down their father-son options at other clubs. Should help that Nick Malceski is currently working at the club and I'd even considering approaching Risch to bring him back into the fold.

Hannah Kelly (nee Dunn) and Jaq Yorston both gave birth to baby boys recently. Both if they choose to play AFL will be ready for the 2042 Draft.
