Result aside, the cup final is still one of footballs greatest days. Particularly when it involves teams from outside London.

I reminded my dad today, when I was a kid a truck pulled up outside our house. It was a colour TV (yes I'm old). Dad said that he wanted to trial it for a few days before buying.

Pure chance, about 30 of his closest friends came around the following night, which just happened to be FA Cup final night. Lucky time for a colour TV trial.

I remember being allowed to watch the build up, but after being sent to bed I kept on sneaking out to watch the match. I'd hide behind the sofa and peek around the corner until I was caught, then get sent back to bed. Rinse and repeat.

As I said to my dad today, that was not far off 50 years ago now. Wow. Shocked me a bit just saying that to him.

Can't even remember who played/won. Maybe West Ham were in it cause I thought their name was hilarious from an early age.

FA Cup was enormous, even in Australia back then. Probably the only live televised game.
