Flynn is not an AFL level ruckman imo. I have always thought that.
I reckon he is a great backup ruck but short of being the man.
I quite like him as a person, so maybe being generous

Just 12 touches for Perryman last night. I didn’t see much of the game, has he been moved out of the midfield already?
Looks like it.

Placed on the interchange in the starting 22 and seems he's been moved toward the back as I don't recall seeing him in the midfield.

It didn't occur to me till after the game so I wasn't keeping an eye out for it.

I read somewhere he was asked to do a tagging role last night. Technically still a midfielder, but not a great use of his strengths.

Peatling in particular looked lost out there while most of his teammates ran riot. Might take a bit of time to get used to a new system.
Outside about 12 weeks last year he has always been a fringe player.

Big part of why I wasn't going to begrudge him about cashing in

Peatling has proven he's up to the level, but there's no doubt he'll be used in a more defensive role this year. The Crows are stacked with offensive talent in the midfield with Dawson, Rankine, Soligo etc.

A trio of former-GWS players named in this article:

DYLAN SHIEL (ESSENDON)

Age:
32

Contract status: Unsigned beyond 2025

Jon Ralph’s analysis: “I think it’s fascinating. He’s probably earnt $5 million at Essendon. The issue for him – and he’s been a world championship fumbler in the first couple of weeks – is that if it is that he decides to move on, there’s not really many other places for him. He is out of contract. I think he’d be looking at Jack Macrae saying: ‘I made the decision not to go to St Kilda’ … now they’re different players, but look at what Jackson’s doing for them. It’s not going to be St Kilda, I’m not sure where else it is if he moves on from Essendon.”

WILL HOSKIN-ELLIOTT (COLLINGWOOD)

Age:
31

Contract status: Eligible for free agency at the end of 2025

Glenn McFarlane’s analysis: “He’s certainly under the gun, there’s no doubt about that. I think he’s a chance to drop out (of the team) the way things are going. We’ve got to a stage with Collingwood where some of them are going to have to drop out. In fairness, this guy could’ve been drilled out five, six, seven years ago and he’s been outstanding in terms of the way he’s been able to reshape and refashion his career, to win that premiership, he was terrific in 2018 as well – so he’s had a number of ebbs and troughs. But the pressure is on him.”

SAM FROST (HAWTHORN)

Age:
31

Contract status: Unsigned beyond 2025

Jon Ralph’s analysis: “He should’ve gone to Sydney. He was so loyal and he thought there’d be a chance for him to play, (but) he was always going to be fifth in the pecking order to play in terms of key back. I still think he’s versatile and durable enough to get a three-year contract somewhere else. You never know, but it would take multiple injuries for him to get into that team.”
