Re: Essendon sign Mal Michaels

There's no legal document you twerp. It was cancelled by both parties. Are you seriously that thick?
Yeah and why did they Cancel that document? because they thought he had wanted to retire, which we all now know was a crock of ******** he just wanted to weasle out of our contract to join the bumbers I think the Lions have every right to be pissed off. oh and thanks for the attempted insult very 1980's dont you think?

Re: Essendon sign Mal Michaels

Why? The club have already proved they are not going to come to the party and help him through this tough time. Why should he go back to the club that refused to show any flexibility at all?

Can you not even understand that part of the reason for the turn-around was that he gets a fresh start at a new club?

Brisbane supporters need to understand that their club and the way it's acted must shoulder a huge part of the reason this situation has happened.

This is not my arguement sorry to interupt, but I can see your side of it.

But the AFL needs to design some form of mediation or contract tribunal, in cases where parties who have contract can't get along. They simply cant allow players to fictiously retire even if it is done with absolute honest intentions at the time.

My earlier senario I put to you was way over the top:D , but if it happens to just one player from any club next year it will mean disaster!

Re: Essendon sign Mal Michaels

good on him. he was prepared to sit out, but a club approached him with a bit of flexibility, and away he goes. the lions could have kept him on the list, they knew he was keen to play on a modified routine. they should have realised someone else may have felt he was worth it.

The reason the document was cancelled is of no account. Fact is, it's an ex-document. It is deceased. It is dead. It had shuffled of this mortal coil.

Re: Essendon sign Mal Michaels

Intravenous Drips. The legislation did not say you couldn't use them. So we did. The legislation was changed, now you can't.

Tribunal. The legislation said Brown could not be penalised because it was 'outside play'. He got off. The legislation and tribunal system was changed, now you can be pinged for that.

Contracted players retiring. The legislation doesn't say you can't change your mind and go to another club. It doesn't say that you can either. Will it change? Personally I think it will.

Re: Essendon sign Mal Michaels

Contract no longer exists.

Which is a sneaky way of getting out of it, he should of been in trade week but Brisy didn't want him to go.....so unlike everyone else who operates within the system, he decides to rort it....I still think it is a bad way to do it...so in theory Spida could of retired at the end of 05 and played with Sydney in 06...its wrong..

Andy D was too worried about important issues like alternate strips to worry about things like this.

The fact is Mal Michael is a prick - pure and simple. He did the dirty on Collingwood and has now done it to the Lions.

Re: Essendon sign Mal Michaels

IYO skilts......its a very bad scenario if people can do that...at worst he shouldn't be able to play until 08 simply because he had a contract for a year which he did not honour...

Actually that worded very poorly. the problem here is not about honering contracts. The contract was voided by both parties. the problem is the reasons why it was voided.
The question that needs to be asked is what rules need to be in place as far as this senario goes. The problem is no can say either way exactly what happened. Do you punish a player who could have genuinly made a mistake in judgement ?
People are making judgments here with absolutely no evidence to back it up. If the legal system work on coincidence then a lot of innocent people would be in trouble if they where simply judged by others who have uninformed opinions and have made judgments without any knowledge of all the facts.
All this talk about spirit of the game, what about spirit of life and being innocent until proven guilty. Anyway i suggest that half of your opinion is based on your Essendon bias ;)

Well thats were you are wrong mate the lions didnt stop him from being traded it was infact Mal micheal himself who told the lions he didnt want to be involved in a trade. So was absolutly no reason for Mal micheal to be sneaky the way he was.

Spida could of done the same thing in 05.....Sydney talked to him then but we didn't want to trade him....exactly the same thing for Brisy...except he goes where he wants with nothing in return to the club that had a contract which he SIGNED...

That makes it worse then...

And you have absolute documented evidence that Essendon conspired with Micheal against Brisbane?
You really know for a fact that all of this us true?
Lets go back to the 1700's and hang them all just in case it is true

Being better-informed than us mere mortals, you'd have irrefutable proof of these monstrous assertions.
