Heck of a game down at Westmeadows today. Craigieburn showed that, if there is relegation they won't go down without a fight. Credit to the Tiges who came from 23 points down in the last to pull of a win.

I'm not one who likes to pay out on umpires but, again, today the Eagles copped the short end of the stick of some inconsistent rulings. If they are to survive they'll need that side of things to go in their favour too.
True this crap with umpires has been going on all season

I would say that the umpires were consistently inconsistent all day towards both sides. 12, 50 meter penalty's in a half of footy is crazy. I think both sides were wondering what the hell the umpires were doing.

Well done to Craigieburn though today, really served it up and had a crack. They are a much improved side from the first time around.

One thing I will say is, there is no point arguing with umpires who think the game is all about them. I think we conceded two or three goals from those which hurt.

At the end of the day it was a great game of footy.

Yep. Some big games ahead and a couple of vital ones at home.

Why were the respective benches on the opposite side of the ground at Westmeadows yesterday?

Not sure how that goal on 3QT was allowed to stand but I think that summed up the afternoon from an umpiring perspective.

Good effort by the Eagles, in what was an entertaining clash played in good spirits. I'm sure there would have been a lot more niggle involving other teams given the decisions paid/not paid.

I was told it was a directive of the coach. Thought it was a pretty smart move given most of the play in all three grades was on that side of the field. Not sure if the breeze blows that way all the time.

I thought the siren summed up the umpiring. Garbage. Surely the club could purchase something a bit louder?

Well if it wasn't already sorted it is now. The top 4 is set and it looks almost certain who will be playing in both semis and it is only rd 11. Well done to Westy on their improvement from last in 2013 the other 3 were all expected to be in the mix. Can anyone spoil the top 2 and especially the Burgers. Can they go through undefeated? Big interest now is who will get relegated. Crazyburn would have to be favs, Oak Park have run the top 2 close in consecutive weeks so surely they will find some more wins, Haddy have suffered 2 really bad losses in a row but should just survive. Hillside are the interesting one, their form has really dropped off and they need to win at least 1 more imo. Can the unthinkable happen from GF to relegation? The Roys have only won 3 games as well and still need to play the top 3 so no easy escaping relegation for them. My tip is Crazy and Hillside will finish on the same pts but Crazys shit % will cost them.

Never had a problem with hillside supporters

Found tulla deros to be pretty bad

Having said that every club has good and bad supporters

Agree all clubs have their bad supporters, must've copped them on a bad day but going there for the 1st time that was the impression that sticks. For a club whose junior results have been up the top for the past few years it was really surprising to see such bad behaviour. Screaming at umpires, encouraging players to fight, bagging their own coach.......... It's junior footy for Gods sake, if you think winning is everything in u/12's & 14's , you're probably better off not going.

Tips for this week. I must say it does look a pretty straight fwd round with only one tricky game imo. Tulla should smash Haddy but you never know with Haddy, their form fluctuates wildly but Tulla by 10 goals. Wc to flog crazyburn, crazyburn need to try and protect their % but Wc way too good 10 goals plus. Taylors Lakes will be too good for Hillside, hopefully the bye has recharged the Sharks but their last month has been poor. Morelli and Desousa killed Glenroy last week. Lakes by 40. Big game of the round is roys v Westy and maybe I am clutching at straws calling it a "Big Game' Westy flogged them first time around and the Roys are closer to relegation than top 4. Westy to stitch up top 4 and win by 20.

Watching today's game Craigieburn vs West Coburg the EDFL should hang there heads in shame at the exhibition of umpiring from half way thru the second quarter free kick count 29 to 10 in West Coburg's favour and the none of the umpires saw number 19 from West Coburg kick a Craigieburn player yet everyone else did at the ground or number 11 for Craigieburn being eye gouged . What will it take for the EDFL to start monitoring umpires performances some one getting badly hurt no wonder players leave the EDFL for other comps or stop playing the game.An the post match scenes the umpires can take credit that by a miracle did not turn nasty as they walked of the ground smiling at the job they had done. Finally Craigieburn boys did themselves proud you can not beat the umpires boys.

Massive heads up to the Eagles for another 100% effort put in. West Coburg just capatilised in the end on a flood of possession going their way.

I really think it would do a disservice to the Craigieburn team to focus on the umpiring too much. All the players and people watching want is some consistency.

I am sure Crazyburn are playing better Auckmel but so they should they have the biggest spend in div 1 easily and they are anchored to the bottom. Having said that their improved form and the massive drop off from Haddy and Hillside means relegation like Premier div is going right down to the wire. Haddys % copped a flogging from Tulla yesterday and now Crazyburn are close enough that one win might be enough to leapfrog them. On a brighter note it should be a cracker next week when the top 2 lock horns for top spot. Have the Roys slightly opened the top 4 door? Westy have 3 easy games to come and a bye so I think they will just hang on.

Typical west coburg behaviour
I thought that side of west coburg was in the past. Was at this game, that fight was a disgrace some of the haymakers and kicks being thrown from wc players was disguisting! An the umpiring is another story. Didnt give cburn a chance was the worst ive seen

You seem like you know a bit about what's happening down there. Any idea just who is getting what? Personally I would think WC and Tulla would be spending more.

The run home:

Eagles: Glenroy, Tulla, Hillside, BYE, Oak Park, Taylors Lakes.
Hawks: BYE, Taylors Lakes, Westmeadows, Glenroy, Hillside, Oak Park
Oak Park: Taylors Lakes, Westmeadows, Glenroy, Hillside, Eagles, Hawks
Hillside: Westmeadows, Glenroy, Eagles, Oak Park, Hadfield, West Coburg

I think we're good enough to beat Hillside, and Oak Park at home plus pick up the bye points. Glenroy is winable, but lets say no. I have us on 24 points.

Oak Park to finish on 24 points with 2 more wins and a better % should have them safe.

Haddy get the bye points and I can see 1 win tops most likely over Hillside. 24 points.

Hillside have already had the two byes and are at risk. Will need to beat OP at home to get to 24 points. Much could depend if they get their Jets players back.

We will most likely have 4 teams on 24 points by the end of the season. Much will depend on losing margins over the next 6 weeks to see who goes down or indeed if anyone can pull off an upset.

Absolutely I know a bit. in my opinion it doesn't really matter who spends what the clubs work hard and it is their prerogative to spend what they can afford. My point was more Crazy spending the most and being on the bottom. For what it is worth the $$$ ladder would be roughly
Crazy
Oak Pk
westmeadows
Tulla, Lakes, Roys (all about the same)
West cob
Hillside
Haddy

I guarantee that is close and I could probably give some examples but this forum is not the right spot for that. As I said who cares who spends what? It is how wisely you spend your money.
Roys, Sharks and Burgers all have ex AFL players coaching them I am tipping they aint cheap. But maybe the clubs feel the coach is the most important piece of the puzzle. For what it is worth I don't think Crazy will beat OP

The run home:

Eagles: Glenroy, Tulla, Hillside, BYE, Oak Park, Taylors Lakes.
Hawks: BYE, Taylors Lakes, Westmeadows, Glenroy, Hillside, Oak Park
Oak Park: Taylors Lakes, Westmeadows, Glenroy, Hillside, Eagles, Hawks
Hillside: Westmeadows, Glenroy, Eagles, Oak Park, Hadfield, West Coburg

Are you an ex disgruntled player by any chance? :)

I mean I looked at rounds 1 and 2 and you've got 6 or 7 18 year olds who would get the standard 100 bucks a game. Even round 3 there's a number of kids playing maybe 5. Round 4 the trend continues. Even now the club has 3 youngsters in the line up. I just can't see where they'd be leading the comp in player payments.

No offense, but you seem to have it in for the club.

I must chime in here for the sake of transparency and what REALLY occurred at the Crazyburn v WC game. I understand it's difficult for supporters to accept a loss when you had a real dip but to blame the umpires on the loss is exactly why Crazyburn is anchored at the bottom of the ladder. WC down to 2 players at HT and as a poster mentioned above the wave of numbers finally took it's toll on the scoreboard. Great effort by Crazyburn and they can take a lot out of their past few games.

In regards to the incident in the 3rd quarter anyone who is going to be objective will agree number 33 from Crazyburn set the whole thing off. A couple late cheap shots during the quarter followed by gutless uppercuts to WC forwards whilst on the ground which resulted in him ONLY him being sent off and reported twice by the umpires (says a bit about the incident). WC players responded in kind and it will be an interesting tribunal hearing during the week.

As the old saying goes "People who live in glass houses should not throw stones".

Definitely don't have it in for the club just going on what I have been reliably informed. Although this was a preseason estimate so with a few guys leaving and plenty of kids being played you might be right. I do believe crazyburn should be doing much better looking at the amount of players they have access to. But good luck to all the clubs and their committees because I am sure everyone is working them bums off to make their club successful.

And of course number 3 from WC was not taking swings at anyone. Lets talk about umpires 29 frees to 10 in 2 and a half quarters is good umpiring NOT
