Hey JimmyBC

Interest rates have started to fall. Inflation is now at 2.4%, down from peak 7% in 2022. Unemployment remains low at 4%. Wages growth has remained over 3% since 2022. There were 2 budget surpluses in the past 3 years, and every Australian taxpayer got a tax cut in 2024.

Might boot him out this election though lol

Speaks funny. We also need to make Australia Great Again! Cause….

Shoe will be on the other foot once Dutton imitates Trump and puts a 25% tariff on imported wank sheds.

Spudhead has got competition in the Trump space - might go down well in Queensland...

Clive Palmer launches MAGA-inspired party

Story by Jessica Wang

The mining magnate has been confirmed as the chairman of his new party, Trumpet of Patriots, which will run on Trump-inspired policies and sway voters away from the major parties, as well as the Greens and Teals.

Speaking to a packed room, Mr Palmer praised Mr Trump, and said his party would “Make Australia Great Again,” and rally for policies like a reduction in immigration, banning trans-athletes, and rescinding Kevin Rudd’s posting as Australians ambassador to the US.

“The Party believes in the policies of Donald Trump, which is shown to be effective in bringing management back on track,” he said.

Beat me to it...

Is Clive Palmer trying to be Australia's answer to Donald J Trump? Palmer has just launched the Trumpets of Patriots Party.

Of course Palmer selects the bits of Trump's MAGA policies that suit him. He hardly mentions international politics. Does he intend to withdraw Australia from the Paris Accord on Climate Change and the World Health Organisation and is the Timor Sea to be renamed the Australian Sea? Maybe he will also whack 25% tariffs on New Zealand and Chinese imports?

Well that is another one who I will not be voting for. I would vote for One Nation before I supported Palmer and his crock of shit.

This is the same Clive Palmer who imported millions of doses of discredited and useless hydroxychloroquine into Australia to treat Covid while telling us all that vaccines were poison. At the same time he polluted our letterboxes with yellow leaflets telling us all how to deal with the Covid epidemic. We should not be too surprised about Palmer histrionics as it is straight out of the Trump handbook.

If we had the same electoral system as the United States Palmer might stand a chance but in Australia everyone votes and the nut jobs are easily outnumbered. Mind you it would not surprise if the Trumpets took a seat in Queensland, as Hanson and Katter have shown there are enough nut jobs living in North Queensland to cough up a wotthefuk Senator or two.

How on earth is it going to sway people away from the greens or teals lol

The Reserve announces a cut in interest rates, Trump moves closer to a peace deal in the Ukraine, we have a ceasefire in Gaza and yet the Australian share Market falls substantially. The ASX is down 0.8% today following a fall of 0.66% yesterday and an overall fall of 0.84% for the week. All our Super funds will take a hit.

The markets may rally between now and the next election, I think they will need to if Albanese wants to get re elected.

The graph for the bank that I actually have shares in looks a bit like those graphics of the Tour de France stages - as of today my rider is on the downhill side of the mountain, on a steeper gradient than the ASX peloton...

Gold and silver is a more worthwhile investment. Our silver holdings have tripled in value since we purchased them 5 years ago.

Probably. First point, Inflation is back under control, rate cut tomorrow. Second/third point, Labor has invested more than 30 billion this term in housing compared to the 5 billion during the Abbott/Turnbull/Morrison decade. Unfortunately, building takes time.

But I suppose Albo could've wished houses into existence the instant he was elected. Stupid of him really.
Geez, I wonder if this has anything to do with the problem?

"In the 12 months to June 2024, net migration totalled 444,700. Twenty-five years ago, the natural increase was running at 120,000 a year. The babies then would now be looking for a house. Total housing demand now would thus be about 560,000 people.

Dwelling completions in the year to June totalled 177,022. Assuming there are 2.4 people per dwelling, that's an annual housing shortfall of roughly 56,000 units, although it's probably more than that because the 25-year-old families wouldn't be 2.4 yet: they'd mostly still be two."

Your comment is the equivalent of a Facebook nuffy defending Hinkley because "he can't kick the goals for them mate!"

You should work the farms with those cherry-picking skills.

Is immigration bad? probably. But if you think Labor is the problem when they can't even get a modest student cap past the LNP/Greens alliance, you probably need your noggin checked.

There's no cherry picking when pointing out that a spike in immigration numbers and the housing crisis are intrinsically linked.

But yeah, Albo can't build the houses himself m8.

We all know you hate immigration.
However, aren’t we just doing an immigration catch up due to stopping immigration during covid?
Also housing developments stalled during COVID.

What a dumbo, no doubt BTZ would vote for him anyway.
That’s what happens when Sky and Murdoch are your main news sources.

In a slip, Mr Palmer misspoke and incorrectly referred to the party as the "trumpet of parrots". 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Asked if he would spend more money this time round than the previous election, Mr Palmer said "whatever is required to be spent, it will be spent".
On how the party would preference at the election, Mr Palmer said they would have discussions and do what's best for the country.
He also would not rule out challenging electoral reform in court, on which he said the two major parties had teamed up to lock out smaller competitors.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the amount of money spent by Mr Palmer was a "distortion of democracy".
"A bloke who spends over $100 million to deliver one Senate seat with a bloke who sits in the corner and just engages in conspiracy theories, I don't think, represents value for money," he told reporters.

They all use the same talking points at the same time… how very surprising

Surely anyone with a brain can see what a disaster Trumpism is and what damage he has wrought in 4 short weeks. Surely no democracy wants that?

She's just pissed that when she did batshit crazy stuff the stock market crashed and when Trump does it him and Elon make bank on memecoins.
