I've just finished reading the updated version of 'Homicide' by David Simon, the origin story of The Wire.
This came about bc of a convo with Ocha905 about having a Wire DVD fest annually (haven't since lockdowns ended).
A book I had been looking for for years and prompted by the convo then found it (just around the corner in the end) here:

Yeah, I haven't watched it, Drugs and Crime shows aren't really my thing to be honest.
Understandable, as it’s not for everyone.

Tell me Bono, what genre/s interests you?

He was vicious and feared. Played the part to perfection.

There were actually so many great characters from that show. Cedric Daniels (Lance Reddick) was another who passed away. Young as well, only 60 from memory.

Marlo Stanfield, played by Jamie Hector, who also had a decent part in Bosch was top notch also.

It will take several retirements before that is a gap needing filling on your list.

You will also need to look elsewhere when that happens, I have already rejected all offers.
OK, I admit it, I was being nice.

You'll never get asked.

My son just had his Yr 12 grad last week. There was a young half Sudanese kid with the short braids who was a little overweight and I said to myself "my boy is graduating with Proposition Joe!"

Not the ones that make me cry in front of everyone.

But hey a bit of light hearted stuff can be good for a change.
when I ask the genre of his selected movies- Turbo always answers 'Rom Com',
unfortunately I just can't unsee the blood and guts and fights etc he shows

All time top 5 show, no doubt. Just finished it and The Sopranos again recently. Knocked them over back to back.

Also wanna pipe up about Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

Just rewatched the former, and working on a rewatch of the latter.

TBH, I think BCS is actually the better show, but gotta watch BB to make sense of it.

Heck yes! Glad you finally was able to track one down (it's criminal how out of print it's been). My hands were shaking reading the interrogation chapter for the Latonya Watson case. Ironically now I'm watching the TV show and the interrogation episode based on the same case was similarly a highlight.

I like a few different things

Comedies, Spy shows, Sports themed series, Fantasy and Science Fiction types series.
Mr and Mrs Smith wasn’t too bad in the spy genre. I honestly cannot think of any elite comedies this year though. There were a few actiony type shows that I thought were a laff in Beef, The Brothers Sun, and The Gentleman, but other than that, nada.

Sports themed series, eh. What about docos like Mr McMahon?

Grats to the young fella, Wiglet. I snorted into my coffee when I read ‘Prop Joe’. LOL.

Took you 6 years to complete VCE so he’s well ahead :p
