Its hard to suggest Sholl doesnt have a case for round 1. He seems to have his running game sorted, he is a hard two way runner who gets an exceptional amount of possessions for a wingman and has good speed. Can see him becoming a mainstay in our best sides. No one in our side offers his ability to run and he gets into dangerous attacking positions. Huge weapon.

Will he hold up in finals type pressure when you dont get the space, who knows? but he has delivered clutch more than a few times throughout his time so far. We have others to worry about more than Sholl.
Sholl did have a good year in 2024 no doubt ... But he still has areas of his game lacking which his hard work doesnt really make up for imho... While he might be in our best 22, he should be on the trade table. Imho we have others that could play the wing much better than him, its just that they are better used elsewhere. Sholl can't really play another position

I think this is the issue. We don't really have better options for the wing than Sholl.

Milera, Hinge, Cumming are all better suited to half back. Nank will be a better across HF in my opinion.

Jones aint as good as Sholl. Dowling, Berry, Soligo aren't wingers.

Dowling is a winger, and Soligo could be (and has been) if we need it. Wingers is just a dump position for your extra inside or outside midfielders.

Sholl is a good winger, but he's always going to be on the clock because wing is an natural position to develop your next generation of inside midfielders.

I think it can be a dump position but there are also very good wingers that are pure wingers like Sholl. Players like Seedsman for us, Isaac Smith, Josh Daicos are all genuine wingers.

Think he has the ability to get to Seedsman level.

Hopefully the new coaching guy whose name I can't remember can calm Nicksy down if panic sets in. If we lose a couple early, or a few first choice players go down with injury, he will be sprinting to his "break glass" options of Smith and Murphy for experience, stability, familiarity. Let's hope the new guy has the brains to go "those guys are not the answer."

Strike 1 for the new guy.

Nicks has to much influence

Nicks showing Balme around the club, they get to Nicks' office...

Nicks: Step in here Neil and I'll clean up that mop of yours

Neil under some kind of spell sits in the chair in front of Nicks' desk, Nicks with a flourish whips out a barber cape and clips it snuggly around Neil's neck

Bzzzzzzz.....

Awful, Even by his standards

Actually, it was pretty much exactly at his standard. His career averages are remarkably consistent, around 11-14 touches a game, one goal contributed (0.6 goals, 0.6 goal assists), 2.5 marks and 3 tackles.

Sure enough, he got 13 touches, 0 goals, 1 goal assist, 2 marks, 2 tackles, and a whole bunch of "nearly" moments without actually doing much.

That was an absolutely standard Murphy game. That's what you get from him. The club might say that he's in "career best form", but that's because his career trajectory is a flat line that sits barely above sea level.

That's the issue I have with us selecting Murphy. He's not horrible. He works hard, he puts his body on the line when it's his turn to go. But he's never going to be any better than he is right now, and we have young players demanding to be played, each of which would contribute at least as much as Murphy is right now (probably more) and have yet to get near their ceiling.

It's that rare combination of being a loss in both the short term and the long term. A lose-lose situation.

Will Hamill is down at Frankston this season while this guy is still on an AFL list
we have way more halfback options than forward options though. (Not that Murphy should be on the list)
