Rather have neither.I’d rather have a 500k Brad Crouch on the sidelines than a 800k Lever.
One was injury prone and struggling, the other was best 18 and touted as a future captain. Thats one reason......Thanks guy for the more decent comments here. Having lived through the trauma of the Ox, one does not wish knee injuries on any one. I suppose I am also trying to understand why Lever is any different to Scotty Thompson whom you prised off us.

in ShortProbably because:
- Scott Thompson didn't say when he was drafted, "I want to be a 10 year player for Melbourne".
- Scott Thompson didn't secretly meet with the Crows mid-season when the 2 clubs played each other to discuss leaving.
- Scott Thompson wasn't named in the AA squad in his 3rd season.
- Scott Thompson wasn't the 6th really good player in 8 years to leave Melbourne.
Did Lever get a 4 or 5 yr dealI have to say, I feel gutted for Lever. I said it before the trade, I dont blame him for taking a long term deal on big money. He was unfortunately always a risk to re-injure that knee. He has to think about his future and you cant turn down the type of opportunity that was being mentioned at the time from clubs from Victoria. I was absolutely floored when Smith went down. I think the whole of South Australia was. I am not sure that Melbourne fans would have had time to get behind him yet in the same way, especially with his start to the season. I know they will be gutted, but I mean genuine sympathy for what he has to go through now, rather than the selfish part of it, which is that you have a gun player out for a year.
Its not confirmed yet, so I am still hoping for the best. This death riding thread is a bit of a laugh, but in all seriousness, fingers crossed for Jake Lever.

Vader and Cameron
Rabbit and Crouchx2
Marty and Doedee
JCP and Tex
We're developing a nice collection here
I’m with you fatbarber, let’s hope we get our wish. Was as mad as anyone, but this news is just sad! Would rather meet the demons in the finals and Mitch Mcloven kicks the winning goal with 5 seconds to go, marking in front of Lever!
You are very boring!Keep using that as a cop out for Taylors Leadership. Lever clearly didn't think much of Taylors leadership and was a bonus for him wanting out.
As I said what does Doedee have to do with the Lever deal. If Lever wanted to stay he’d be there.
Sanders and JJ
No one else has said we should have got Vickery instead of re-signing JJ!
He'd turned bloody good. I know there was gnashing on here about his role, but he'd seriously turned the corner on the 'can't play one-on-one' argument and was wrecking his opposition - had done so for weeks now.
I'm hoping and praying that it's the Dale Morris-style partial tear. Weirdest part about it is he didn't even hit the deck which makes me wonder.
