He played every game & moved forward when carrying an injury. He was kicked out of the midfield last year and we performed better. He's not guaranteed anything.
If you call clangers and spraying easy shots at goal influencing games then sure.
You might not care, but coaches votes give you a very good indication who is easily in the best side & who is on the fringe.I don't care about the bnf. Means nothing to me. Laird won it and he's not one of the best mids in the comp.
That's a very good list of players. Just need a couple more good mids. Oh and you forgot berry. I think he'll be elite. Finished off last season so strongly.I'd want to hope that the following are in that side:
Dawson
Rachele
Rankine
Fogarty
Thilthorpe
Soligo
Pedlar
Butts
Worrell
Milera
Michalanney
Doedee
Shoenberg
Taylor
Nankervis
Parnell
Then we have a group of other youngsters to hope kick on. Lets hope it plays out
Yeah, hopefully averages 2+ per game. How many goals this year for Fog?
If he plays 22 games I'm hoping for 40+.
I don't think anyone here would pick keays over any of those players. Those 3 are pretty elite lol.Ben Keays has kicked 22-20 over the last two years
Clayton Oliver 16-26 in that time
The Bont - who plays a lot forward compared to most mids - kicked 24-21 this year (31-19 last year)
Petracca who I think most would agree is very classy going forward kicked 19-31
We do tend to have rose coloured glasses when considering players from other teams

40-50 if injury freeHow many goals this year for Fog?

Coaches views are more relevant than mine. Wow, who would of thought. Here I was thinking I'd be able to select the side every week. You might not care, but coaches votes give you a very good indication who is easily in the best side & who is on the fringe.
Coaches views are far more relevant than yours when it comes to who gets selected.
Well you are acting like it given you don't think Keays is a monty to be picked!Coaches views are more relevant than mine. Wow, who would of thought. Here I was thinking I'd be able to select the side every week.
I don't think he is. We proved we can play even better without him in the middle.Well you are acting like it given you don't think Keays is a monty to be picked!
You are delusional if you don't think Keays is a monty for the team... that is the point!I don't think he is. We proved we can play even better without him in the middle.
Well it's not my fault if nicks wants to sack himself. Most on this board want him gone anyway. You are delusional if you don't think Keays is a monty for the team... that is the point!
So to escape our mediocrity, who is our 2023 starting midfield and ruck...in your opinion? No finals since 2017 and counting. Not my fault you accept mediocrity. It starts in the middle and our midfield is s**t.
Swap our midfield for Melbourne's midfield and we definitely make finals. Probably top 4Midfield is not our biggest problem
Add Gawn and Oliver to our team and we probably still don’t make finals
Add May and Lever to our team and I think we likely scrap into the 8
Not suggesting our midfield is where it needs to be but our backline is our biggest weakness - hence Dawson playing down there to support it

And leadership group too?So to escape our mediocrity, who is our 2023 starting midfield and ruck...in your opinion?
Laird, berry, schoenbergSo to escape our mediocrity, who is our 2023 starting midfield and ruck...in your opinion?
The same people that give votes for the bnf, pick the side.
So if a player is high in our bnf, it's pretty likely that he's high in the selection frame (ie will be picked).
And Keays is plenty good enough to be in a contending midfield. Just maybe not in the top 3 midfielders in a contending midfield.
Keays has carried our team? Sorry you're entitled to your opinion but this is delusional. Does laird not exist? I'd say he's been doing more of the carrying. That's an interesting point.
I follow the Geelong team almost as closely as our Crows (living in a one team town somewhat forces that).
Cam Guthrie and Keays are quite similar in my view as individual players. It's the team around them that will bias people to suggest Guthrie is superior to Keays. Guthrie has enjoyed the benefit of a good team and the success of "competing" for the flag each year. Ben Keays has had to carry most of our squad until now. But I agree with big dub, he'd get a game at almost any team albeit in a different capacity to how we have had to use him until now.
Unless injured, Keays is a lock at selection.
Good data...Ben Keays has kicked 22-20 over the last two years
Clayton Oliver 16-26 in that time
The Bont - who plays a lot forward compared to most mids - kicked 24-21 this year (31-19 last year)

Top 5 in the Coleman with 57How many goals this year for Fog?
If he plays 22 games I'm hoping for 40+.
IF this happens .....we're playing FinalsIf Fog can have a consistent year, 50 goals is within reach. We’re unlikely to have a forward winning the Coleman as our midfield supply is still lacking the grunt.
Not necessarily.IF this happens .....we're playing Finals
My assumption was the goals would be spread ....Tex, Rankine, McAdam, Rachelle ....hence if Fogarty got 50 goals, it's natural to assume we're playing FinalsNot necessarily.
We are more likely to make the finals if we spread the load & have multiple fire-power up front. Ie.
2x 40+ goal kickers
3 x 30+ goal kickers
