No, but the your abundance of smartarse emojis do.
You mean liking a post, or laughing, or thumbs down.

You’ve got to be kidding right.

Someone makes a good post, I “Like” it. Same with a funny post, or posts I disagree with.

I get enough of the same types of emoji’s back. I don’t take it personally.

A guest on the board?

As a Millenial that grew up on various internet forums, the parochial nature of Bigfooty has always puzzled me. I understand football naturally lends itself to parochialism, but we should be able to navigate and participate on whatever board we want.
No one is asking him not to post here, just that if he does post here, don't cry if he gets slapped when he posts obviously factually incorrect information.

And yes, other teams fans are guests on team boards, Bigfooty would cease to function if people could troll at will on other club boards.

The club would have had one of it's top 2 there if Langford was gone in either Lalor or FOS. Once Lalor smashed up the draft boards the pick was always getting split.

Draper wanted to stay in Adelaide or if not wanted to play in Victoria "As that's the home of football".

Club was always looking to go 1 small and 1 tall with first 2 picks.
Well they certainly went very small when they went in on Baker.

Ok I had this discussion yesterday on the trade board.

Teams double dipping is mostly a fallacy.

There has been two occasions where teams did double dip.

Sydney did it once when they finished 16th, getting Braedan Campbell after Logan MacDonald. But Campbell was not seen as a top two prospect, so no team was bidding on Campbell before Sydney’s pick.

GWS did it once, getting Lachie Ash before Tom Green, but GWS traded 3 first round picks to move up, including a first round pick that they got from Essendon from the Dylan Shiel trade.

Otherwise teams have traded their first round picks for multiple later picks for a points upgrade.

When Gold Coast drafted their multiple players in 2023, they had been trading picks forward for two years, and they lost Izak Rankine to Adelaide for pick 5, and traded that pick and their own first round pick for multiple later picks for a points upgrade.

Trading up the draft order is available to all teams. Just like Carlton did last year. Same with teams trading future picks for extra first round picks in the current draft. Melbourne has done this multiple times. Collingwood has done it, which backfired on them, because they finished 17th the next year.

As for the rest of your post, I agree, there shouldn’t be father sons, or academies, or priority picks. Draftee contracts should be longer, and benefit/protect the drafting team, similar to NBA first round draft contracts.

And the draft tampering, want to stay home kids needs to be stamped out by the League.
Only have to look back to 6 months ago. Essendon got the player they were most likely draft anyway and got a future first on top of that, plus other later picks.

The Suns the last few years, get all their top kids and just move picks back a year. So when they have a year where they don’t have 2-3 Academy kids they will still have 3 first round picks…..

To get a similar benefit the Dons got the Eagles had they had to walk a player like TB. A first round pick created out of the air for them…..

Staying home issue? It’s a ridiculous culture within the AFL but academies and NGAs are probably just going to make the desire to stay at home a bigger thing. Percentages are getting high of those who are more likely now. Not just Vic kids

Don't post your decade old memory as absolute fact then, knucklehead.
It wasn’t fact, obviously. Just correct a post and move on. No need to slap down someone.

Slap someone, expect a response back.

There was nothing malicious or trolling in the post. Just have a civil conversation.

Supporters of a team on that teams board are members / fans.

If you support another team you don't get the same rights to troll and criticise the club.

As others have posted. If guests were able to come onto a club board and troll away the entire site would end up like X and Elon's trash site.

Don't post misinformation and I won't call you out for trolling.

Trolling is someone who intentionally antagonizes others by posting inflammatory, irrelevant, or offensive comments, or other disruptive content, with the aim of upsetting people or causing trouble.

We have a high standard on this board.

A little slap won't kill you.

I have always been pretty defensive of Tim Kelly - I reckon he’s copped a bum wrap at times and has been forced into a role he didn’t sign up for with other (better) players unable to stay on the park over the years.

…but if the club genuinely considers adding Brandon Parfitt to the list to ensure Tim has another mate around…gee whiz…that’s not the way forward.

I suspect that’s just silly ‘I reckon…’ stuff from a Podcast Nimrod like Hamish Brayshaw, I highly doubt the club would do that anyway…but I guess they did sign the milk guy to keep Harley company last year…

I really think you’re missing the tone and context of your posts.

You wonder down here from the board of the premiers, who have an academy and elite father sons and you come to our board because you like talking about rebuilds, so obviously you can’t talk about that on your board so wonder down to the basket case club as a hobby and then proceed make questionable comments about our players.

Graham was about to be delisted
Oscar might not get band 1 compo

… and the list goes on and on.

Supporters of the basket case club might not appreciate being spoken down to by supporter of the premiers who regularly visits this board as a passion project before going back to their board for the real stuff on the weekend.

If you can’t understand that there’s a need for you to police your own tone and replies, then you must have the emotional intelligence of a 5 year old.
These are valid points.

I’ve been here since just before the 2021 draft. We weren’t premiers then, and I don’t believe I’ve ever referenced it here. I think I’ve only ever referenced it once on my own board, and it wasn’t in the context of list management or anything like that.

I try and keep my tone neutral, unless I’m replying to a post where someone has had a go at me.

I’ve never called your club a basket case, here or elsewhere. And many of my posts about West Coast are based on what your members have said about your own club.

In regards to players, everyone has their own opinion of every player in the league. I have discussed players you have traded in on here, when the rumours linking WC to said players first were reported. The same as everyone else here has done.

If I’m wrong about something, I’m wrong. It’s not a slight against your club.

Many delisted players have gone on to have a successful career at a second club. Other delisted players have had a second chance, to perform a short term role, that may or may not lead to a longer contract.

How is Oscar possibly not being offered a band 1 contract a questionable comment? It ties right in to the same reasons why West Coast haven’t offered Oscar the type of contract he wants.

However I actually didn’t say that about Oscar. What I did say was something about Pyke talking about asking for a PP, and that putting pressure on the AFL to make sure your compensation was band 1. Someone here decided to make a leap from A to B to give me a slap down for something I didn’t say or think, all the while West Coast hasn’t offered Oscar a similar contract.

Oscar absolutely will get band 1, one way or another, or they won't let him go.

Just need Pyke to go full Bassett at the club champion awards and we'll be good :thumbsu:

Surely this Parfitt talk is just that…talk.

I feel it will be pretty simple. We will just take the best available in the MSD regardless of where they’re from, who they are mates with and who needs cheering up. Exactly what we did with Culley, Maric and Hutch. Simple, successful formula.

Is there a West Coast rebuild thread on the Draft/Trade sub-forum brizzy can spend his time instead? If not can someone please make one 🙃
Ok, I’m not the best at articulating these types of posts. But here goes..

No, but that discussion spreads across many threads. Unfortunately there aren’t many West Coast posters there. But more importantly, the history of your club and players isn’t represented in those threads.

Nothing happens in isolation, a list management decision might be founded on many years of events, intended and/or unintended.

If Oscar didn’t possibly have a knee issue, West Coast wouldn’t be considering letting him go, he’d have re-signed already and the events of the past couple of weeks wouldn’t have happened.

But how and why does Oscar potentially have a knee issue.

This stuff doesn’t get represented on those threads.

And most of the time it’s just opposition posters coming in and point scoring or shit posting. Way, way worse than anything anyone here thinks I’m guilty of.

You do get genuine posters, but their stuff often gets lost amongst all the sh!t posting. Or their stuff gets questioned by the few West Coast supporters in those threads who view every other team’s supporter as the enemy.

Given we've seen Clay Hall and Tom Gross show something in limited games at the coal face, as well as Hutchinson and Reid being capable there, not sure why we'd now be looking at a 27 year old inside mid.

Either a good, ready, key defender or ruck (but doubt there is a ruck that would be good enough), or a 18-22 year old with talent.

Signing a MSD pick to maybe help make Kelly improve his form for half a season, one and a half season tops, would be pretty stupid. You're better off getting him a therapy dog.

I'm calling bullshit.

Don’t get me wrong - we need a hard body who can extract the ball and be relied on to get it 25+ times a game - even if that is of debatable quality.

We have….checks notes nobody who can do that.

I think this is 100% our biggest need right now.

I don’t know if that is Brandon Parfitt though - I kinda doubt it.

Yeah, that’s somewhat along the lines my comment was meant.

My original comment was based on something said on my club board, by one of our ITK posters. I didn’t mention that stuff here, because I’m really trying not to talk about my club here.

And pretty much the same day Pyke comes out talking PP’s.

Similar to Daniher’s contract, my club has form for working with the AFL to offer the bare minimum contract that will trigger band 1 compensation.

Some of the figures talked about here are significantly higher than what’s been discussed on my teams board.

But because the afl keep their herbs and spices secret, no one really knows what figures are really in the ball park and worth discussing.

Tim Gossage claims Hammer is reheating his soup from a week ago.

I think it's just Gossage's speculation that HB is spouting

Not following the conversation particularly closely, but what about Liam Henry with Freo snaring Young and Serong ahead of him?
