Connor Rozee

Connor Rozee's ceiling is anywhere from Andrew Mcleod - Daniel Wells - Gary Rohan.

At his best, he could be the #1 line-breaking mid in the league and at his worst he will be an injury-prone flashy both overrated/underrated player.

Ultimately, I think he will end up in the Daniel Wells category, great player who never quite reached the heights everyone expected. Which I think 95% of Port supporters would be happy with.

He’s literally injured.

You might as well argue Sam Powell peppers form really dropped off after round 7

I also don’t think arguing dude who won coaches mvp award (best player in the league) and one of the most promising players in the league are better is contentious or a slight.

You have to be elite to be mentioned anywhere near those guys.

Daniel Hoyne who heads Champion Data was pretty scathing during the week.

Kane Cornes tried to imply the same thing regarding recent injuries in his defence.

Hoyne's data wasn't based on weeks, but years. He said Rozee is one of the more overrated players in the league according to their models. And has been overrated dating back a few seasons now.

Said he doesn't belong in the same conversation as Butters and even JHF and stated people need to stop lumping him with them. He said he's a few levels below and needs to be treated as such.

At his absolute career peak, he's never been in their top 70 players. Despite having two AA's.

He said he's statistically one of the worst ball users in the comp over the last few years and an example of the "eye test" and bias around how a player looks and a media profile and reputation being very deceptive to reality. He stated his damage outside of disposal efficiency with his decision making and involvement in scoring chains etc is miles behind the top players, again, even at his best.

He looks a good kick and damaging player, but he's far from it.

He further qualified it saying that his game against Essendon was one of the best games from any player this year, it was also in prime time with plenty of eyes on it. People have missed the other 90% of his games which were completely below average, but still form single game bias', particularly ones with plenty of TV viewers.

Some fans might only watch him 5-6 times a year and 1 of those was one of the best games of the year, so form and hold that option for the next 2-3 years.

It was well reasoned and clearly backed up by plenty of impartial evidence.

This is a great example why champion data without context can be misleading and useless

Like this hoyne bloke if he actually ****ing knew anything about port trying to judge a midfielder by disposal eff and scoring chains is just moronic.

Hinkleys gameplan, which hasn’t changed , is to flood our midfield and backline.

He’s Ross Lyon, but instead of flooding the backline to stop scoring it’s to flood the midfield / forward line to stop our opponents getting the ball to their forward line.

our teams instruction is to get the ball forward quickly however they can, kick long and rely on our bigs to bring the ball to the ground and get a chaos ball shot at goal or a stoppage. we then set up a wall across hf / midfield and try to win the stoppage and score or cut off a rebound and get another chaos ball entry.

also using his career when he's had quite a few injuries, the year before last he played with a bad foot injury that barely let him train and clearly hindered him. This is not conjecture, it's a known fact.

also the hogwash about champion data not ranking him in top 70 despite rozee winning 2 aa's if true just shows how flawed their rankings are. I'm willing to bet there would be some real outliers in their top 70 then.

rozee is an elite midfielder who has been injury prone. Our big concern is keeping him fit.

Back to back top 10 finishes in AFL coaches votes (to go with AA) probably suggests he's a pretty good player.

He was on track for a third consecutive All-Australian selection before his injuries derailed him this year.

Bigfooty recency bias at it's absolute peak to suggest he's overrated.

He's a good player. Out of form and a bit injured at the moment, he doesn't mind a dive and can be a bit soft but he doesn't need to do the real grunt work because he is complimented well by Butters and Horne-Francis in that area.

I'd have him in a heart beat but we're crying out for youth in our midfield.

Maybe it's players like Conor with poor footskills and decision making on game day who are the problem and not Ken.....

Sign of a player that is not handling the captaincy well at the moment. Started the season well. Did his hamstring but felt compelled to play through it only to aggravate it some more. Then did his ankle which is a bit of bad luck. And now coming off a bye and with a lack of run is struggling to find form.

I'm sure he will come good again but the rest of the team will also need to lift around.

He could be more damaging with his disposal. Tends to run 20 and kick as far as he can. It can look good, especially if the kick goes through the goals, but sometimes goes to no one

I think I saw that they had Patrick Lapinski at 51 the other day. Patrick ****ing Lapinski?!

Don’t be ridiculous, it is always Ken.
Power have a loss and it is Kens fault.
Player misses goal from 20 out, it is Kens fault.
Player drops mark, yes Kens fault.

However if they get a win, then Carr must have walked past Kens office during the week, causing a winning ripple effect.
