Round Eleven - At Home vs The Phoenix

And so to last week, where we returned home after a fortnight on the road to face the East Side Phoenix. At one stage they were our bunnies but the tables had turned in recent outings, and this season sees them in a healthy position on the ladder. We were also in Milestone Mode this week, celebrating both toxic reaching 150 SFA games and Mofra notching up 50 games in both the SFA and in Coney Island persimmon. As mentioned in the previous preview, activity trends are on the decline given the season is drawing to a conclusion (the weather also didn't help much) but on the whole is was an enjoyable enough encounter. I mean there were wizards and such, but apart from that it was enjoyable.
Speaking of enjoyable encounters, the qooty turned out to be an unexpected source of delight. Qooty victories & milestones don't normally go together for us, and coming off a three game losing streak it was kind of Last Chance Saloon for us as far as season 34 goes. Things were even though for the first two quarters, and even at 3/4 time we were near enough if good enough. And good enough we were, kicking six goals to two in a final quarter flurry which saw us come away with a 33 point victory which is our largest win of the season and still keeps us a mathematical chance at playing finals. Other results however conspired to keep us in 13th place on the ladder, although the two teams directly above us are playing each other meaning a win for us in round 12 will see us rise off the foot of the ladder.

The other standout effort was a vintage performance from pantskyle (27 disposals, 10 tackles & a goal), both joining Snuffaluphagus (10 disposals/4 marks/3 goals) & Ambrose Burnside (10 disposals/3 marks/2 tackles from the bench) in having season best games.
Other notable performances were from the backline combo of Mesc (17 disposals/5 marks), Mofra (19 disposals/5 marks) & The Half Back (13 disposals/6 marks), Agent93 in the guts (20 disposals/5 marks) while Dinsdale bounced back after being held goalless last week with five goals and SBYM joined Dins & Snuff as the other multiple goal kicker with two.
