I almost drove off the road yesterday when they were trying to say McCarthy wasnt worth a first round selection and GWS should be happy with a 2nd rounder.
Kid was drafted in the teens I think, kicked 40 odd goals this year......they think he has gone backwards!

Andy was still banging on about Trelaor to Carlton when I got in the line of traffic this morning (about an hour after I read first report of it on BF).

His premise seemed a bit sketchy - ie that if Carlton can offer two first rounders, the one they get for Henderson and the one for 2016 they trump Collingwood's offer and Trelaor seems happy to go there.

But - Carlton cannot assume at this stage they are getting a first rounder for Henderson. There is a lot of work to be done there given Geelong's complex trade machinations. Carlton have already spent their actual first round on Weiterung, so what Maher is proposing is a hypothetical deal that may not eventuate if at all until later in trade week against Collingwood's money in the bank current offer - it did seem a touch wishful!

There a couple of issues with that and the main one is Blues dont have the cash to spend that on Treloar. Even with Hendo and Yarran goign am reliably told they are full. They would have to let someone else go. Other issue am sure Pies would up the offer if they had to but doubt will come to it. He'll be at the Pies.

I think there will be an element of truth to Andy's story and an eelement of winding up the listeners and Gazey. As I said earlier he is a ripping bloke for a carlton supporter. I can back up GC that Andy was a very good ammo footballer and would put our list to shame with his accuracy sadly. Just hoping his capacity for accuracy does not apply to this story.

I would add he has worked really hard to get where he is and don't think he wold make a totally unsubstantiated rumour up, so there must be a little to his story

1) Treloar wants to leave
2) GWS will want compensation for him
3) Treloar has nominated Collingwood
4) GWS now HAVE to deal with Collingwood
5) Trade period starts Monday, so GWS have all of trade period to come to an agreement with US because of number 3

We have a good relationship with GWS for various reasons. We won't be looking to bend them over and the fact they're looking to accumulate points should make this deal even smoother than it could have been. GWS will most likely be coming to us to say "Hey Pies, we need X number of points because we want these two kids from the academy. How close or over our point requirement can you get us?"

If the deal is delayed somewhat, it will be because we are waiting on OTHER deals to go through to potentially get us some picks we can then on trade ot GWS to increase their points. Don't expect the Treloar deal to be done early. It will be done VERY late, but not for the reason people think.

All the Treloar stuff is just the media inciting the masses. He's chosen us, but they sell more gossip/papers if somehow some sort of hail Mary screw Collingwood agenda idea is brought up. But hey if Carlton want to screw themselves for another decade I've got no issue giving up Treloar for that... Means we just go harder for JOM/ Mcarthy.

Honestly you can spin it what ever way you want to meet your own agenda. Carlton will be a bottom side for years to come, would you really think someone would go there if they had a better option? Yep and look there is no way given the points GWS need this year and next they will baulk at a first and second round choice and hence let him walk into the PSD. Seriously people.....unless someone offers them a first round selection ahead of ours and he wants to go there I wouldnt worry to much.
