Love that the club is not committing to Dib. History tells us that at 174 cms you need to be elite in a number of other areas. His chances of becoming a successful afl footballer are slim. Harvey and Daniel are the only 2 really successful players under 175 I can think of this century. Others like Lewis Taylor look like they will make it but often fall away. Seems like a great kid and hope he goes alright but best for us to keep our options open and take best available.

Shane Crawford. Eddie Betts. More currently Baker at the Tigers, Tippa at the Bombers, Spargo and Pickett wearing premiership medallions at the Dees. Gulden at the Swans looks promising.

Whos knows whether we would of or not but one things for sure we lost and Naughton would of held us in much better stead moving forwards.
Fair bit of doubt there too. Would we have turned him into a forward? And if we trialled him up forward, with our shambles in front of the ball, would he have succeeded or been quickly moved back to full back?

Because they've been unfashionable, I suspect that that height has had a higher ratio of draft hits than taller blokes.

If there's 40 players better than Dib in the draft, I don't really care if we get him or not. I'm pretty happy with what we've been able to achieve. We got Krueger the tall forward we've been in desperate need of. We bolstered our midfield with Louie the Lipinski & we're getting arguably the best kid in the draft. All three fit the age profile for our rebuild & we haven't lost any of our best 22. We've done well
We haven’t done anything, there is still no evidence that the two players we brought in are anything more than quality vfl players. If they aren’t premiership calibre material then we’ve wasted valuable draft picks.

I think you over-estimate the value the draft picks we used to get them. The two we brought in are more likely to be premiership calibre players than some kid with limited footy over the past two years to judge them picked later in the draft. Two more kids would also add to our unbalanced age profile.

The strategy looks right. Whether is works time will tell, but that is the reality of any strategy we use.

I agree one or even both could be busts but the alternate is to do nothing, we have targeted two players we think can add something in areas we need now. Both not getting opportunity behind tried and tested players at other Clubs, Lipinski has shown enough and Krug we have targeted two years running so the belief those in the know are confident enough. Both give us much needed capacity in areas we were a little weak.

we could roll the dice in the draft maybe get a slightly better hand pick wise but a gamble on kids who will take some time and most likely not ready for AFL footy until later in the year or even subsequent years.

Exactly, even resigning known quantities like we did in 2019 didn’t work. Its complicated.

I actually think that when we look back in a few years time some quality players, a graders, will be taken late in the draft. The development of players has been severely interrupted over the last two years as has the scouts ability to find the talent.

You would expect that the chances of quality slipping to later in this draft is higher than usual. But it will be a raffle as to which team benefits. Probably more luck than anything due to lack of exposed form.

Every chance in two or three years time some people will be lamenting that we could have got a particular player if only we hadn’t traded for Lip or Krueger. Argument of cause ignoring fact we may have not picked said player.

I think in the current climate trading in two known quantities in the right age bracket that meet list needs is the right strategy. Hopefully Lip and Krueger are the right players for that strategy.

Guess we might have some Cap Room end of last year with De Goey Gone.

Easy to Sign Maynard and Moore
Not sure what you know about what happened in New York with De Goey and his mate etc. I certainly don't, other than the snippets reported in the media. Hope the club gets the facts before they make decisions that some on this forum already seem to have made.

Umm, no they're not. It's not even close - Witts is an elite tap ruckman and he was pretty solid around the ground before he did his knee.

Not everyone is Max Gawn, who is the only ruckman in the comp who ticks all of those boxes you've mentioned.
Disagree. Witts is not elite and was never great around the ground. The fact that he won a B&F at the Suns is an indictment on them. I NEVER saw Witts dominate a game in his time at Collingwood and from the matches I have seen at the Suns.

Not so sure it'll be JDG who goes. It'll depend on how well all three play in 2022.

So will De Goeys likely departure free up the list spot immediately... in time for the Nov draft ? Or could that be a drawn out process... with us forced to keep him listed cause he’s contracted?

The open list spot and future cap space...Could change the clubs strategy to a degree 🤔

Calm down - he's not departing immediately and will be on the books for next year, because aside the relatively minor nature of this incident (from a legal perspective), nothing legal gets sorted out in three weeks.

We wont know anything further until he faces a judge, but you should be mindful that, outside of any (possibly well directed) moral outrage, these are misdemeanours on the lower end of the scale here and having the other charges here dismissed has no impact on legal proceedings there, or any further action the AFL may take in response to this latest incident.

As an aside for all intents and purposes this is his first strike in this particular space from a legal and procedural perspective.

It’s a Collingwood player, the AFL will throw the book at him.

My question is reasonable.

Whether he’s charged or not... It’s naive to believe that he won’t be sacked over this incident...

I just wanted to know how soon the list spot is freed up

I have no moral questions about it - it's pure and simple public misbehaviour in almost an identical fashion to another incident he's just been cleared of.

Apart from him being a moron the other facts are obscure.

However please no more dckheads.

No it's not, it's an emotionally charged response to something we all find extremely disappointing coming from a representative of our football club.

The fact of the matter is that we can't sack anyone until the situation plays out, so there is a likely lengthy process to come here (both in the courts over there and with the AFL Integrity unit here.

Similar situations at other clubs haven't resulted in an immediate (or even eventual) sacking so it would be presumptuous to think we'll automatically sack him, based on no real information whatsoever other than he has been arrested for an incident at a bar and taken into custody.

I understand that the kangaroo court is already stringing him up (colloquially speaking), but as disappointed as we all are about Jordy apparently getting himself into trouble (again) we need to be mindful that we don't know a whole lot right now and there is a legal process that needs to play out for however long that takes.

Eddie Betts was 174cm. Melbourne had two premiership players under 175cm. Shai Bolton and Dion Prestia are on 175, Liam Baker below that.

If Dib’s ability was nothing special then fair enough but I hope height wasn’t the deciding factor.

Eddie Betts was a prolific goal scorer as a junior, Shai Bolton has elite skills and speed and I suspect won alot more of the footy at junior level and Prestia has always been an elite winner of the ball.

Nothing against Dib but in his stats I can't see anything that suggests he is going to be a high ball winner or someone who would regularly kick multiple goals per games.

He’ll be sacked within weeks. The facts of who did what will all come to light by then... his culpability established... and the club will be compelled to act

Whether it affects the clubs plan s for draft night remains to be seen

Makes me wonder if it was the same "friend" this time who was caught up in the incident last time?

100% agree on the last bit - a lot of kids have a bit of dickhead in them coming in, but we need to do a better job of working that our of their system better than we have been.
