Ultimately comes down on what the Hawks are prepared to pay and the other alternatives to Lynch available.
If they want a capable, 10 year Ruckman who can run all day then Lynch is in a class of his own.
If they see a Diamond in the rough, comparisons to SPS and Lipinski’s trade value become irrelevant.
If an opposition club said this about a 3 game in 4 year player we would laugh at their stupidity. I've never seen such delusion over one of our players before. Lipinski has shown 100 times more than Lynch.

Is this based off one game on Queens Birthday?
Newsflash - Lynch is not Dean Cox.

Gibbons for me. I'm really surprised Carlton hasnt offered a new contract. He was a very solid player for them.

Unfortunately he’s a poor fit for our current life cycle. His best bet is Geelong where he can add depth to their small forward group and be a depth player overall. At Collingwood he’d get judged very harshly if he doesn’t perform when he receives game time over kids.

I think the problem is that his best game in terms of ruck work was against the best ruckman in the competition.

I am not sure whether Fort, Ceglar and the other rucks on the merry go round can say that.

But yes it is a small sample size.

I reckon Sam Mitchell has identified that he can get the same output but for many more years from Lynch than Ceglar for a fraction of the price.
I’m sure Mitchell has identified that. But that does not make him worth the trades values i’ve seen thrown around here for him.

if you personally rate him really highly and think he is worth a 1st Round Pick, thats fine, you just think really highly of him. Thats your opinion on him and thats fine.

but, in the actual market, where SPS is worth a 3rd, Lipinski a 3rd, Kreuger a mere late pick downgrade, this value of Lynch is not reality.

i’m sure part of the reason Mitchell has identified him as a target is due to the fact he will also be able to be acquired for not much in terms of capital.

hawthorn will not be looking to sideways trade Ceglar out for Lynch at the cost of a 1RP.

I’m on board, but not this year if it’s ever a chance despite his name possibly being floated.

I still think he holds value and it’s probably still pretty raw so next year is the time to enquire, but the reason I’m not 100% convinced it’ll never happen is because he seemed genuine in his desire to stay and I think there might have been a personality clash with someone that’s since moved on* (on top of his questionable choices off field and high price tag).

*Not necessarily Buckley!

Sanderson?

Lol away. You literally said they would get the same output as Ceglar for cheaper. Maybe the word compared has changed??

I'm not seduced by anything, I didn't check Brownlow. Lynch tapped well in that game. But Gawn had more possessions, more goals, more tackles and more marks. That game gets him a go at another club. It doesn't get him a 2nd round pick.

You should ring Hawthorn and tell them to retain Ceglar lol

Agree - I think GW might need to get creative and make the trade a win for us. For me that means getting in another player (in addition to Lipinski). That might mean involving another club either directly or indirectly.

Hypothetical scenario -

Cox and Lynch both receive offers from other clubs and both players have made it known they want to leave.

What should GW do? Thoughts.

Yes Ceglar's 2 years for no games and then getting picked up as a rookie by Hawthorn. Let's tap ourselves on the back for that one!
Jolly, Grundy, Witts……fairly certain Ceglar is behind them all.

By the way, I don’t think Lynch is worth much more than a pick in the 50s. But I do think he can be a number 1 ruckman in the future

so you compared them, said noone is comparing them, and now your whole point is, well Ceglar might leave. Lol indeed. You should have started with "Ceglar is older than Lynch lol!"

I don't get why u mentioned Jolly, but your second point is definitely right. He's a free pick and at the right age. Cost hawks nothing and if he's delisted in 2 years noone will blame them.

I’d do it. He’s a dickhead, but plenty of stars in the past have been too. Worth persisting with at a lower salary. Norfs problem is they stupidly signed him for 5 years @ $500k.
If this is true, the question would be why are North testing the market for him after 1 season?

Probably because for the money he’s on the risk/reward is too much.

Herald Sun reporting tonight that Hawthorn are likely to offer more than 1 draft pick to Collingwood to try and extract Lynch

They either must not have thought it through, or realised after 1 season he isn’t the $500kpa player they thought he was.

It’s not as if he had a stinker of a year. From all reports they were satisfied. Maybe not $500k pa satisfied? Or maybe there was a little more to that off-season incident?

I’d say that much like at the pies, his off field antics are the issue.

I just mentioned Jolly because I thought you insinuated Collingwood were to blame for letting him go. I was pointing out that it wasn’t the wrong given who was our ruck and who followed. All 3 were/much better than Ceglar.

We need to continue to collect more picks. There is a kid called Yousef Dib who is an absolute little ferret and will make a very handy small forward. Forget about "5 Possession Hill". Dib is as hard as a cat's head and played some excellent VFL football as a 17 year-old top up ( I believe he was still playing for the Oakleigh Chargers in the

We've already got enough for him & Daicos.

I’d assume the Pies would want clarity on whether a deal for Lipinski is going ahead tomorrow. Because if he heads tot he PSD, I would think we would want to work out the number of picks we are taking into draft night and whether there’s an opportunity to package picks up

Club wants the Trade Done ASAP but does not mean the Dogs will do it.

Yes we need to know the Exact Pick/s it will Take by Tuesday at the Latest

.... under U18 comp.
Daicos has played hardly any footy for 2 years. Horne will be way ahead of him. Damn!... Dib may even be more advanced! He played about 5-6 VFL games against senior sized footballers; and played well!
Do not expect much from Daicos until round 12 ( a la Oliver Henry).
If we walk away with Daicos, Dib, Lipinski, Kreuger and a couple more picks ( and only lose Cox and Lynch ) I will be satisfied.
