Listen, there is a thing called leverage and we have sweet f*ck all of it in the Grundy and the Henry trades. We will get what we are given.

The reality is that we are still dragging clown skeletons out of the clown car even after we managed to clear out the clowns driving it. The f*ckery going on with our list was always going to haunt us for several more years.

Geelong and Melbourne didn't screw Collingwood. Collingwood screwed Collingwood.

In the case of Henry, we drafted a player who was always a serious flight (well, short drive) risk. In the case of Grundy we gave an exorbitant, set for life contract to a guy who was so far up his own ass that we should have seen the risk of him immediately switching his mind to his future property portfolio rather than his football.

We have nothing to hold Henry with and we can't keep a straight face with Melbourne and pretend that we want Brodie and his ridiculous contract. We cannot win these trades.
Boo! Get a haircut!

I hope we don’t cave but I do think if Ollie nominates for the ND he will get to Geelongs pick. I just can’t see a club using a pick under 25 to take a player who they know does not want to be there.

Hopefully we can convince him we value him more and get stays.

Don’t really care about Grundy, but Henry? If any of what you said was remotely true then every singe uncontracted player in history would have walked for garbage deals. Given that’s not the case, I’d say your concept of leverage is a big load of schizen.

And yet he will walk for a garbage deal.

That's a very deep throated opinion there Linda, I'm glad you were able to spit that out

Hawks at 24, Essendon at 22 would be all over him imo. Shallow draft, they don’t have much to lose.

It’s the PSD not the ND. He will get snapped up before their pick guaranteed.
Wonder how many players be at the Club Tommorow doing the Welcome to Collingwood Photos/Video's/Interviews for the Trades to be Done ;)
Clear the calendar Dave. There’ll be more introductions than a year 12 formal.

Without looking at picks I'm not sure if there's a club who would take him. Interstate clubs would be wasting time. Perhaps Melbourne given their weak forward line. Do North have their 2nd round. Worth if they get 2 early mids. Can't see a club using a top 15 pick on him so would come down if it's worth the risk for the 15 to 25. I think he would get to their pick.

Rather tommorow as Not doing Much and not Wedneday as I have a Driving Lesson in the Afternoon for 2 Hours

Geelong are not offering pick 25, it's 27/28 with bids.

If we want 25 to be the value comparison, we need to compare it to Henry being picked at 14 (17 - bids).

The pick they are offering is 11 spots below where Henry was drafted. His value is higher than where he was picked, so they're offering significantly under value.

Good luck w the driving lesson mate. Hopefully Wrighty comes through for you tomorrow.

IMO I reckon he will go ballistic tomorrow and save the last day for pick swapapalooza.

Thanks Mongo Ming

Draft years have differing quality. You cant just say 17 one year is 17 the next as the amount of elite talent can drastically fluctuate. I believe Henry's draft is looking in hindsight to have been a really weak one. Henry's value just comes down to opinion.

I reckon the club will have someone on their draft list that ends up available at 41, who they would have been happy to use 25 on anyway. Maybe 41 will even come in closer to pick 25 after points get matched.

If Wright lets Henry walk into the draft I'll back him in. There is great value in not ruining our legitimacy in future negotiations about our walking away point. It also sends a message to our players' managers, that if they're going to request a trade, they better make sure they're confident the opposition club will put up an appropriate offer for a trade.

My main concern in missing out on 25 would be having some live trading capital on draft night. But if the draft is as shallow as people are saying, I doubt any club will be desperate to trade up to get 25 off us, or there would be anyone earlier in the draft that we'd want to use 25 in a trade to move up the order.
I too will back the move to close negotiations now and publicly.

The kid will do what he pleases and really with his attitude it's not a big loss.

Doesn't come into it so much. Draft quality is always in hindsight. A little too early to tell for 2020 and obviously too early for 2022.

The Cats have made a commitment to Ollie, his brother and mum & dad to “bring him home” to Geelong. I reckon that they won’t want to welch on that commitment and will find a way to boost the offer.

I think they’ll somehow find a way to free-up their 2023 first rounder to trade to us.

He can choose. PSD he would be 0% chance to make to Geelong. National Draft could be a decent chance.
If you redid the draft in 2020 where would you rate him? If pick 25 or greater then sure. But he’s a (semi) known quantity and those kids aren’t.

At the end of the day 25 is a rubbish pick after F/S noms so if they wanna burn it so be it. We’ll probably only use 2 picks this year. One being our 16. And hopefully we get better than 27 for Reg. We lose nothing really.

I’m more than happy to chance our hand than bow to those maggots.

This trade is about pride over result.

You can leave a club, but you don’t leave Collingwood. I’d still spit on Nick Davis if I saw him in the street. Well, probably not. But I’d definitely stink hand him in a handshake.

If Henry’s draft was weak, and given his progress, then we should be asking more than 17.
Because by your own logic you’re suggesting those taken before him haven’t performed, so Henry in hindsight, deserved to be taken at higher picked
