Essendon got busted on the salary cap for overpaying Timmy Watson in 93/94 when he was re-drafted and in the second case for Mark Harvey when North put a pot of gold in front of him around the same period of time.
Old news.
Melbourne's case was/is worse and they rorted the system to get Jeff White from Freo. Would the Dees be in the GF now if White wasn't there?

Would Essendon have made it to 1993 grand final without Watson or Harvey... NO.
If it is ancient history maybe we should not count premierships won before, um...... 1995 when discussing clubs history...
Max, All history is ancient, you can't pick and choose your history, wait a sec... as I barrack for the Kangas let say all history pre 1973 does not count... sounds great... ok it's official... everything pre 1973 does not count.

I almost forgot, that "pot of gold", was that a different pot of gold then the one Essendon dropped infront of Kickett, I am not saying it was wrong, but don't cry when you cop it back... and if it forced you over the salary cap, you were in the wrong...
