Some good stuff here.
My band recorded our last album in a grand total of 4 hours.
Wanted to capture ourselves as live and raw as possible.
No edits, re-do's or punch-ins. Im proud of the effort.

I've always believed that's the best way to do it. One of my favorite albums ("!!Destroy-Oh-Boy!!" by the New Bomb Turks) was recorded in one weekend, no multi-tracking, no over-dubbing... but the producer demanded they redo every song over and over to the point of frustration-- but it made the songs faster and the frustration gave it more of a snarl.

My band that I posted here recently (Beethoven's Bastards) is no more. So I'm a musical free agent for the third time in four years. I'm kinda getting tired of landing in crappy band situations over and over.

Amateur muso but pretty happy with a demo I handed over to a semi-professional muso mate who turned it into this..

Buying one of these tomorrow, really going to make my Line 6 Catalyst a lot more fun!

Hi guys.

I've been songwriting for 5 months now and writee pop dance songs and ballads for female artists.

I've also been doing versions of my dance songs as electro rock songs too which sound really cool.

I use an A.I based music program to enter my lyrics into and then I come up with the style of music and voice that I want. It takes a few attempts before I get the right sound that I like.

It's really fun and I have written 30 songs so far plus I've done a fair few remixes\alternate versions too.

My endgame is to get a female singer to sing my songs and get my songs picked up by a record company and recorded. I'm going to start pitching my songs to record companies next week too via email.

If you would like to check out my songs then please visit my YouTube channel Solo Records.

I'm trying to grow my subscriber count but it's a tough slog out there.

Would really appreciate the support. I always reply back to every comment on my YouTube channel too. I'm sure you'll find at least a few songs on there that you like. :)

Chwers,

JM

umm

just want to make sure I've got this right - you write lyrics, feed them into an AI program, and ask it to come up with music to accompany them?

I don't want to sound like a dick, but that's not songwriting

**** AI music in all of its forms, seriously
I write my own lyrics which consist of verses, bridges, pre choruses, choruses and outros hence that's songwriting.

That means I've written a song.

It's pretty simple to understand really.

Next you'll be saying someone who writes down a poem isn't a poet.

Now in terms of producing a song that's more in line of what your thinking of and I'm not saying I'm a producer.

I don't have any fancy equipment to make backing music or a studio to hire a real singer to sing my songs, etc so the A.I programs the closest thing I've got to that.

And as for the *** AI music comment have you actually heard how good it is these days instead of just saying a mindless comment like that?

The technology is really impressive and it's more than just feeding my lyrics into the AI program. I spend hours picking the type of sounds I want and voice and hsve to go through multiple versions of the same song before I find the right version Iike.

I'm not trying to pass off AI music for real music but it's great to use as a demo to show record companies, etc what your song sounds like instead of just giving them some lyrics that they have no idea what would sound like in a song.

Anyhow writing songs is my passion and I love using my creativity and imagination in coming up with the lyrics. Didn't want to get shot down for that.

I'm really trying to understand here - Have you written any of the actual music?

If all you've written is lyrics/words - then you're a poet - nothing wrong with that, but it's not the same as song writing

Did you come up with the chord progressions or the melodies ?

I don't care 'how good AI music sounds these days', it's absolutely not in anyone's interest for us to be using AI to produce anything like that when there are so many talented artists who can produce this stuff on their own

All AI will do is drive creatives out of the field who will no longer be able to make a living from it

What do you mean have I written any of the music? I just said that I write all the lyrics to the 30 songs I've written which classifys as writing a song. You're either just taking the piss or are very naive if you don't understand this.

You do realise that alot of songs come from poetry right? Alot of people who are songwriters are also poets hence they go together. I think you're trying to over complicate things to be honest.

I don't play any instruments so how am I going to come up with cord progressions? I come up with the melodies in my head while I'm writing my songs so I hsve an idea of what I want them to sound like when I put my lyrics into the music A.I program.

Like I said I mainly write dance music for female artists as thats what I like listening to.

I don't care what you think of A.I, you better get used to it cause it's here to stay. I'm a tech guy so really appreciate the technology. Don't get me wrong though I still love the 80's music and all the rock bands in that era but I adapt to change.

Alot of musicians these days especially dance artists use A.I music programs to get inspiration from when writing their lyrics like I do to get an idea of the sound they want to end up using for their songs.

Like I said not everyone is blessed with a studio and expensive equipment that's thousands of dollars.

No offence but it sounds like you're stuck in the 80's to me.

You're the kind of person who probably thinks that dance artists are untalented just because they don't play drums or guitar.

You will never convince me that you should be considered a song writer if you use an AI program to produce the music

Electronic artists still compose the music themselves so I still consider them song writers, it not just about being able to play guitar

Anyway don't need to continue arguing I just needed clarification of how you produce those songs and you've clarified so thanks for that - they aren't for me-

Well like I said you're pretty naive if you don't consider me to be a songwriter. I do what any other songwriter does. I get an idea for a title of a song in my head write it down then come up with the idea of the chorus and write that down. I then write the rest of the song by coming up with 3 verses, 2 pre choruses , a bridge, outro, etc.

An A.I program has nothing to do with songwriting, what a daft comment. 🙄 You clearly don't understand basic songwriting fundamentals and are just an A.I hater.

Enjoy being stuck in the 80's pal.

You are partly correct, I am hater of A.I

But I've been playing in bands and writing songs the best part of 25 years so to consider me naive about the basic songwriting fundamentals is way off the mark

and while I know that everyone has their own process and there is no 'right or wrong' way to write songs, I do find it funny that your first step (coming up with a song title) is quite often literally the last step of my song writing process

Anyway you do you, pretend you write songs when you clearly dont

I don't have to pretend that I write songs mate. Like I said I do what every other modern songwriter does. A.I is just a creative tool to produce my music as a demo. I've never tried to pass off my songs as real songs as I dream of a real female singer and backing band recording my songs in a studio.

What's wrong with coming up with a song title first? Alot of modern artists do the same and build the song around it. Maybe that's why I'll succeed and where you've been going wrong? Like you said there's no wrong or right way.

Lol ok you're gonna succeed a being a song writer by using AI to come up with the actual music

What exactly have I done wrong with my music? Sure, it's not my income ,but I've got to play plenty of awesome shows, played with some of my favourite bands and a heap of great experiences - wouldn't change much with my music journey
