Feeling confident?
Prices are pretty crap atm, in a good market prolly 1500 a head, be lucky to get 800 atm, they are ripping calves as well. Possibly the bit of rain we just had may give the market a boost but not expecting much.

In fact CCJ will prolly go better 😮😮😮

Feeling alright about this game. Last week was encouraging in a lot of ways, with the exception of Goater's injury, and everyone will benefit from the genuine hitout with the new gameplan under their belts, which should see us be a bit more organized this week. Under the roof at marvel against an interstate team is another thing in our favour. Overall I'm expecting to see an increase in lowered eyes as we head into the F50 as well as not getting cut up anywhere near as bad when the opposition is on the rebound.

Got my fingers crossed that Pink can position himself better, that Corr gets over whatever the * was going on last week, and that CCJ is reminded he's eleventy feet tall and weighs as much as most suburban cars.

Also got my eyes on Big X's ruckwork, loved almost everything about him last week but thought not enough of his taps were really to genuine advantage. But if Clarko's plan is happy for him to sacrifice risky creativity for the sake of a scrappy contest that Big X will impose himself on more than his counterpart, then that probably works to a degree too.
Agree but I think the concerning thing was we didn't really play four quarters (seemed to tire) and were only lucky that they were wasteful in the second half otherwise it still would've been a 70-80 point loss. The question is whether that was because it was our first real game and their second, related to the experience of their side or (hopefully not) a sign that our fitness can't keep up with our gameplan. I don't think the hitout one checks out as Adelaide ran over Gold Coast in the last quarter.

Fremantle are a defensive side and when they're playing well they're set up in a way that makes them difficult to score against. Our ball use and decision making inside 50 isn't great at the best of times so to have any chance we'll need to be smart and not careless going forward.

Another metric that's important is inside 50's - we need to get > 50 more often than not this season. Last week was about 45 which is ok away against one of the better sides in the comp but at home against Fremantle we need to give our forwards repeat entries, apply pressure and make it as difficult as possible for them to transition. I don't think we're they're yet in that respect as our forward line has too much immobility and one way running but here's hoping.

In terms of the changes - Simpkin will be back and I assume it'll be either Lazarro or Sheils to go out.
I think most of us are hoping for Comden to play and if he does it'll be CCJ who makes way. We're not going in with Comden and CCJ unless Comben is being brought in as a defender. Either way definitely CCJ out for me - we don't need two big forwards who offer little when the ball hits the ground and defensviely (one much moreso than the other), it doesn't suit modern football. A fast, small forward line is absolutely fine if we lower the eyes and avoid bombing the ball in carelessly.

Good summary. Agree with all of it, but in terms of CCJ and Comben potentially both playing, I tend to think that this is (right or wrong) more likely given how focused Clarko was in his GWS post-game presser about our lack of aerial competitiveness. Shouldn't be as big a problem against Freo, particularly given their injuries, but my guess is Clarko will want to play them both.

Might've been a commentary on those that were playing and their expected aerial prowess vs their actual/performance as well considering the use of the sub and when it was used. I think the point was probably made considering the defense side of things as well where we were aerially dominated. If Comden comes in (and CCJ stays) it would only be because he's playing defense. No way we would be dumb enough to try a 90's esque forward line contains Larkey, CCJ and Comden. We're bad enough on transition defense and forward pressure as it is - that sort of forward line is a thing of the past. Most sides operate with one big forward and a mixture of medium and small guys with good pressure ratings and resting midfielders who can damage offensively these days. The only example of recent times that had success was Riewoldt and Lynch but in that case we're talking about two absolutely elite forwards with Riewoldt being quite good at ground level.

If Stephens is also out then I think Phillips will definitely come in along with Simpkin.
