HSUnN paper this morning heavily suggesting he will be 'rested' by Yze (because of the short break) and they will look to bring in Prestia and probably Bolton.
RICH have supposedly 26 players to choose from ....and they're going to rest Dusty in R14, when they have the R15 Bye ?

Clubs amaze me sometimes

I do .....strange that Crows supporters on this board were also happy at the departure of Charlie Cameron .....didn't think he was worth much

Already rehabbing from a Knee Reco, and being his 2nd ....do you think it was the responsible action, to offer him a 2 year Contract ?

Given how quickly he did a 3rd knee ....it seems to me the correct decision was made ....however that call in no-way can be misconstrued as the Crows not rating Doedee .....he was offered a Contract by us
Doedee's a very good player but given the emergence of Murray and especially Worrell, the club probably thought he was expendable and the compensation pick was worth losing him. One of the best intercept marks in the comp but not a whole lot else to his game - is a mark and kick down the line player - so it seems they valued the attacking flair of Worrell and Murray higher.

Big debate here in Melb about whether Dusty Martin plays his 300th against the Crows ....or is rested, so he can play his 300th in Melb next week

Personally, I think Dusty will play ....he couldn't give a toss about his 300th ....and has refused all press conference requests
So much for clubs having to make all players available for media during the week.

Certainly was a contributing factor

Most player comments, like "have to play Dowling, Taylor, and Curtin" are from posters who haven't watched them play in the SANFL ....it's like, they may have played a meh game in the SANFL, but I want to see if they're a star in a level 4 x harder at AFL

Then we'll can them as failed picks .....or, it'll be another situation where the Coach has held a player back unfairly

Ready players, are frankly easy to pick
Why are every club's players ready except ours?

They're not, trust me ....every Club is in the same boat, with high many draftees playing State League

Definitely an element of truth here - but the likes of Smith are making error after error and not being held accountable, and I think the general feeling is that any of these players would offer more at the present time - even with their faults. As an aside to this, living over here in the Socialist Republic of Victoria, I don't get to see the SANFL games, but I did see Carlton's ressies on the weekend. They were soundly beaten by the lowly Bullants, and there's not a single player I saw who looked AFL standard during that game (and they had Motlop, Durdin, Young, Marchbank, etc. who've all played senior footy). Yet I've seen the likes of Motlop kick 3 goals at AFL level and play very well on occasions.

Whilst he and others looked hopeless on the weekend, sometimes it's the standard of footy or the fact that the non-AFL affiliated club has more to gain and therefore lift their game, whereas the AFL-affiliated club is more concerned with playing players in roles that the AFL side need, and not necessarily to win at all costs. The other thing to bear in mind is that the AFL side should, theoretically at least, have better skills and ball movement, and therefore bring these players into the game more, whereas the reserves often struggle to do that given the scrappier nature of the game at the lower level.

All very good points Crow Magnon !

Young players can be infused into winning sides easier ....as you've said, surer ball movement, and senior players around you assisting with positioning

It's harder, much harder, coming into a side that's struggling .....or bereft of senior players

Smith has been horrible, and his brownie points IMO have been eaten up .....that said, and I dislike many of the chess aspects of today's game ...because it depends on every player being in the right position, all the time ....otherwise this system falls down

Young players will tire in the 2nd half ......being a Fantasy / SC player, I look at McAuliffe last week ....at HT, he's braining it, almost RICH's best player ....2nd half, he disappeared
It happens to most rookies ....they cannot go with the AFL pace & positioning requirements for 100 minutes

It's why the cries of despair at Curtin's subbing was naive thinking

That said, at home, against a depleted RICH ....this is the game to blood a couple .....so many changes with Richmonds personnel, they're simply playing surge footy

I think we expect too much of the players in the SANFL

Not everyone is a Charlie Cameron who could churn out 3 vote Magarey Medal games, kick bags of goals and prove definitively that he's too good for that level. He demanded selection but not all players are like that.

Sometimes you have to take a punt and trust that their ability will allow them to adjust to the level.

I see what you did there

I know everyone sees the Crouch out - Dowling in as a likely scenario, but I think it's just as likely that Nicks doubles down on his own stupidity and moves Berry to midfield with McHenry as the sub.
Dowling might get named as emergency and can be thankful about it.
I think that is more likely

I was fine with Doedee leaving, it is likely that he will never reach the same level of performance he once had, he was always injured, we had younger (maybe better) replacements, and the compensation was good.
Cameron I was not happy that he left. There are apparently rumours he wants out of Brisbane now too though so perhaps he struggles to settle for a long time in 1 place. Or he was impacted by the Vegas trip....

With Martin's record he can di what he likes but I think it's ordinary. There us a whole of excuses being given but was never going to play.

I think you play your 300 wherever, he can still have a final game at the MCG.
