Okay. Just want to say that even though Dogs were down on personnel we were as well - because we literally don't have them yet even on the injured list, I'm hoping the players - unlike plenty of us - aren't ready to write off the season yet after dropping a winnable game.

There are at least 4 other teams from this weekend that would and should be more concerned about how they are travelling after 50-60+ point thrashings. Boys need to roll their sleeves up and hit back hard this week.

One thing I was happy to see was that even with a couple of really poor patches where we bled goals easily there was no point in the game where I felt like the team wasn't genuinely playing with intent to win the match - feels like a small win, but it beats seeing heads drop 20mins into the first quarter like last year.

Melbourne played a good GWS team and hate Docklands so I expect us to back up with an extra days rest and see another great opportunity to start the year on a better run than the last few. With Adelaide at home the week after (I saw this before the season as the toughest of our first 6 weeks) and who knows with Sydney the following we really need to bank a win.

We are so ****ed next week. Angry Dees will smash us. This time we play there AFL team!
Not really. Most of the so called "no names" who played against us, also played yesterday. It will only be Gawn and Petracca really who are the notable differences from that match. They did play well yesterday, but they don't play Marvell well at all, so I would say we will have a reasonable chance

Should be more suited to the wide open expanses of the G than most we have. Also we won't have to worry about him being sucked into the contest like all of our midfielders .... This game might be the making of him at Arden St. Giddy up!
The game is at Marvel

And no Pickett

Time to play 3 tall forwards if May is out and stretch their back line especially as the game is at Marvel.

Logue out Pink in
Comben out if inj and either K. Or W Dawson in
Archer out and either Fisher or Hardeman in
Maley in and RHJ out. If we want to bring in another tall.
Sub Harvey.

Lol for people calling for Whitlock to come in - on zero exposed form - Phillips out, etc. etc.

The only changes should be K Dawson in for Logue (if injured). Even W Dawson would be a better option than Whitlock at this point (if fit).

Otherwise, I would prefer to see Chom forward, either of the Dawsons to play defense.

Also Coops kicking 6 on Sunday surely has to give him a look

Whitlock has played about twice as many games over pre season vs Wil Dawson and been about thrice as good.

Dawson has been singled out a few times in reports as needing to get up to speed.

There’s no reason that Whitlock couldn’t man a Jefferson or a fritsch

100%

Whitlock is 18 months - 24 months away. Cant keep smashing kids confidence and throwing them to the wolves

Agree, the context around potential match ups should definitely play a role in who we select to replace Logue. The issue might be the following week vs Adelaide where there wouldn't be a clear match up for Whitlock.

Sorry but Fritsch would treat him like I treat my underwear, he would turn him inside out, back to front and left to right.

Cooper Harvey as the substitute. It would be good to have someone who can come on and kick 1-2 goals and be dangerous.
I think we need pacy runners as subs, ie Stephens, Fisher, Tucker types.

Coops Replaces Zurhaar.
Hardeman for LMac.
Experienced tall defenders like Pink and K Dawson replace Logue and Comben.
W Dawson and Whitlock not ready just yet.
Consider Maley to come in to clunk some marks inside 50 and give X some support, not sure who he replaces.

RHJ (and Xerri) had the most "score launches" for us. That means they created a score by starting a chain of play that led to the score.

He needs to stay in the side.

That would be cos he played pretty much loose man rolling up to stoppages

Fairly easy to do
Maley isn't gonna replace that tho. WE scored as well as we have all year on the weekend and he played a big role in that. We'd be cutting our nose off to spite our face dropping him now.
