Ryan is even worse 1:1 defender than cox, they both rely on reading the play being 3rd man up intercept marking. If I was coach I’d be sending a statement this week Draper to take Ryan’s role, MacDonald to replace Cox, Aish to replace Walker.

While I’m at, Voss isn’t a second ruck, and sucks as a forward if he can’t kick a goal to save himself. I’d give Riddle a go as second ruck/Forward, seriously can’t be worse than Voss or Reidy.

If Narkle and Simpson are ready, they can take Frederick and Banfield’s roles, both deplorable yesterday dropping chest marks, fumbling the loose ball and handballs to opposition players.

Draper Pearce Aish
Clark McDonald Chapman
Sharp Johnson NOD
Narkle Treacy Reid
Riddle Amiss Bolton

Jackson Serong Brayshaw

Simpson, Wagner, JOM, Ras

Sub: Fyfe/Brodie

You know what will make an AFL team better? Replacing half of them with WAFL players

Shit I really don't care at this point. I never want Freo to lose but recognise, like a lot of us on here, it might be for the best. A derby boil over combined with a 0-3 start initiates the last rites IMO.

Worst result is another dour, low-scoring slugfest which we finally manage to win, only because West Coast don't have the tank to punish us.

Obviously, you could argue a loss may be the best result for us long term, but I can realistically see us coming out, getting a comfortable win, then you'll have plenty of the supporter base hailing Longmuir as the messiah again and going "See? You overreacted it's still early!!"

I would want us to lose if it meant he would be gone. But I know for a fact they’re not even going to consider sacking him until Darcy and Young have had an extended run. A derby loss will be nothing more than a derby loss.

Voss out cox fwd and back up ruck
Smaller defence with speed let Ryan/draper play tall
Banfield out for a traffic cone
A sub that can actually impact the scoreboard
And I know it’s been beaten to death but let’s just give Brodie a chance can’t be any worse then what we have right now

Aish and McDonald both proven AFL players, so not sure what your point is, Narkle played finals last year for Port which is more than Banfield did.
Voss is a WAFL player so replacing him with Riddle is like for like. Frederick and Simpson is the only AFL being replaced by WAFL player

McDonald hasn’t been an AFL player for 5 years. Narkle literally got delisted. He was worst on for Port in finals.

Voss is a WAFL player that had the most marks i50. Riddle hasn’t even played WAFL.

Literally not a single one of those changes is going to improve anything.

Treacy/Voss

Marks: 7/6
Contested marks: 2/0
Score involvements: 8/7
SI minus own score: 2/3

Voss will kick straight eventually, he has a two year contract and I'd expect him to spend all summer taking set shots if his season continues with five shots at goal for one goal scored.

One general play goal, four set shot misses.

If that clicks, good for us. I wish he had been better for us yesterday, but he is 21 and played 8 games.

I have to keep reminding myself, he has a lot of growth in him to come and he is already so far along the road.

If Voss takes contested marks and kicks half his set shots he will look a gun.

Absolutely, and when he starts kicking 4.1 from set shots regularly at peel he can come back into the AFL team, until then he’s a burden, he actually cut off Amiss who was the intended target for that last set shot, then hit the post. We’d be better off having a second ruck and leaving Treacy forward.

You didnt watch Ports finals then, he was pretty good

Voss would be AFL standard if he could nail set shots. There was one other bad error but most of our 'good players' make similar errors once or twice a game and this board forgets about it five minutes later.

What we picked yesterday was best available IMO. Coaching and lack of confidence is the greater issue than ability of the players.

Frederick had most score involvements in the team against Geelong btw. The set shot wasn't great but he's usually good in that area. We need to get him more of the ball because when we do things actually happen. If you were at the game yesterday and could see who was presenting Frederick and Amiss were ignored in favour of the long bomb multiple times.

Banfield isn't much good but he's straight out when even one of Walters, Switta or Sturt are available. Narkle might be a better option but it's minimal what difference it'd make.

I couldn't believe how mumbles didn't go one on one when Sydney were coming in the last quarter
How often was Warner in the clear in a dangerous position .So frustrating!

Simmo said a couple of times that you can't just defend Sydney with zone defense when they are coming hard..Wish he had told mumbles that

What a gruelling week in store with the high temperatures at training and not dropping much by Sunday afternoon with a chance of some rain forecast. Even the minimum temps are in the mid 20's this week - it's real peak summer scorcher stuff.

We're kind of fortunate WC are in the same position in the lead up to this Derby rather than some fly in fly out team.

The interceptors are always the worst 1 on 1 defenders. That’s why teams put a defensive tag on them.
Stewart is an incredible reader of the ball, but put a tall on him and he gets found out.
Happens all the time.

Fremantle better do the homework and put one on McGovern. He’s been abysmal having to track back to defend the 1 on 1.

Riddle is miles off. Thought Voss was okay. He did well. Bloody hell it’s from WAFL to AFL.
He kicks 3, which he should’ve, then he’s an elite find.

The list management can take the blame for this.
Knobel goes and Reidy is backed based on two AFL matches last season. Horrific
