How open are we to trialling Ah Chee as second ruck in the lead up to September?
Vardy isn't mobile enough to be the 2nd ruck, time to give it a shot. Also gives Arch a chance to spend more time in the middle.

Petch like Brander not close to AFL level at moment. Waterman fallen away badly. Shuey and Kennedy (if fitT) to come in.
That's what happens to first year players - more often than not they can fall away badly in the latter part of the season. Needs a couple of pre-seasons behind him. He's only young however so has plenty of time ahead of him to work on any deficiencies he may have.

I think the Grigg (Richmond) approach is worth considering...

We got very little from the second ruckman either as a ruck or a forward today. Given that we might as well add depth in run.

Waterman has got to go, had a good season early but has dropped away to today where he was a absolute liability.

You're bang on the money, I've been saying this for weeks now to all the "bring Waterman in brigade".

He hasn't kicked a goal in his past four matches, and only kicked three goals in his last eight games.

The form which has fans excited in the first third of the year has long ended.

Then you don't have a responsible position :)

Smart arsery aside we do live in a world where some peoole say "family first" because little Billy has a head cold.... and really that's Bullshit.

There are degrees as to the urhency/importance of the family issue IMO

Of course there are levels where family comes first, perhaps I should be

A head cold doesn’t fit the bill.

A situation where your family could potentially lose a life?

No brainer for me, no matter what responsibilities you have to your job.

Cheers for the clarity

Ins (if fit): Jetta, Shuey, Partington, Ah Chee

Outs: Barrass, Masten, Petrucelle, Waterman

In reality we should have played Ah Chee in the guts over Petrucelle in the forward line against a heavily contested team.

Edit: Simpson says JK won't ve fit, Shuey and Jetta should be back.
Is JK's body shot and is retirement on the cards at seasons end or is it just the current injury that's causing havoc?

I guess the gamble is - do you
a) play a second ruck who will lose the taps and offer nothing at ground level, or
b) play a non-ruck who will lose the taps but act as another midfielder once the ball is in dispute

If Ah Chee wants to contest centre bounces and just tackle the first opposition player he sees, then why not give it a try?

Regardless, we should have trialled this against WB. We won’t do it this weekend and we won’t do it against Gawn or Ryder.

Maybe but it doesn’t change the fact that you can’t have anymore than 1-3 players in your side getting it less than 15 times to win a flag. We are miles away in that scenario. I am going to look into this week but I reckon we would be top of the ladder in the league for most amount of players per game who get less than 10 disposals in a match.
It's been like that for some time - left to too few more often than not. Everybody just needed to play their role today but too many MIA.

I don't think we can play Rioli, Ryan, Cripps and Le Cras all in the same side.

Sadly, they're all too one-dimensinal, and when the chips are down none of them do enough.

Rioli?

One dimensional?

You’re having a laugh.

Absolutely.

But we don't get any clarity in this circumstance do we? Just "family first" as if that is cover for every circumstance...

I guess we just have to assume that its more than a head cold. :)

Have noticed that happening to a few of our players more often than I would like - at times I think we badly need a tackling specialist coach.

Our tackling was deplorable today. We've got some players who lack strength (Masten) and a lot of young immature body types - and it kills you when teams break a tackle through the middle or away from a stoppage. Hurt us directly for goals 3 or 4 times today
