You’d think Ruscoe or Maynard gets Burgess as that third tall type for them. Moore probably has to go to Chol to match the athleticism which leaves Murphy a little undersized against Casboult. Big test for Murphy and if he can get the job done it’s a huge tick for him.

Time will tell, Burgess is a better contested mark than Chol, if I were to play undersized on any of our 3 key forwards it would be Chol, he plays a bit more like a mid size fwd, tries to get out the back, doesn't mind picking the ball up off the deck. But Moore is a gun, we should be doing everything we can to keep him away from the contest.

If Cameron and Cox are in our best 5 players the week before Grundy returns, who in the team would you omit for him? Or do you believe all 3 could play together?

Would depend upon the weather and the opponent but I'd play all 3 without too many qualms. Grundy number 1 ruck, Cameron KPF, Cox number 2 ruck. If you're going on last weeks form though and 1 had to go, Cox at this stage would make way. Form from the previous round, Cameron makes way.

What am I missing with Poulter it seems he doesn't even get a look in anymore I could easily see him leaving at seasons end.
The whisper I have is that he doesn’t always run to the game plan patterns as much as the coaches would like.

Poulter probably no go until a genuine winger is out. He reminds me a bit of Tom Philips
I have not seem much of Poulter this year but I do have a gew questions about him & so if anybody can assist, then that would be very much appreciated. OK.

1. Has he put on any weight/muscle after his 2nd pre-season?

2. Is he a player that runs in both directions as a wingman or mid-fielder in terms of both an attacking mindset as well as a defensive mindset when needed?

3. How would you rate his disposal out of 10?

4. What is his intensity like when he is competing for the ball in terms of repated efforts & tackling?

5. A question that I think tends to go under the radar in 2022 but is he more of an athlete playing football or does he possess genuine footy smarts?

Anyway, I will see what unfolds. Good luck & goodnight.

I think he needs to prove via the VFL that he is a better AFL choice than Cameron or Cox. He is no longer an automatic inclusion when fit.

They are different players but consider this - Grundy has had less than 10 disposals 3 times since 2014. Mason has achieved this stat in 8 of his last 10 games.

To suggest you would pick Mase before Brodes is laughable.

Grundy is a ruckman and Cox would be lucky to have played Ruck in more than 3 of those games, he always played Forward.

To suggest you would play Brodes before Grundy or even Darce before Cameron is just as laughable ???

Starting to get a bit worried about the futures of Mccrae and Poulter. Coming into there 2nd seasons you would hope they would start playing regularly but are not even close and looks like Carmichael has gone past them already. Could it be another 2 1st round busts by Hine again
Happy for the to develop and bide there time in the twos for a couple of years. Josh Daicos broke out year 4.

I did note that they were different- go take a look at Mason’s last 4 games. Other than his standout against Melbourne, he doesn’t get much of it. Whilst doing plenty of rucking.

Grundy offers so much more.

Depends on how the players are performing at the time that Brodie is due back. Your comment is based on historical rather than current or future form. Perhaps I will be the one rather than you to enjoy a laugh.

Ruscoe in for Howe instead of Dean is a baffling decision

So what’s the plan for Chol and Casboult?

Dean played about 1/3rd of a VFL game last week & we are at round 16 now. If they thought he could get through a full match without any worries about fitness they would have picked him. He needs more time to build.

He played 90 minutes, but I agree with you that he needs more VFL time.

Really? 90 minutes? More than I would have expected. I watched a fair bit of the game & saw him a fair bit in the first half. But not a lot afterwards.

Don't stress, no one really expects Cox to play once grundy comes back

Dean has played a 90 minutes of a VFL game in 4 months. If you really think he’d be a more effective key defender than Murphy at this point, regardless of height difference, you should probably rethink the way you look at football.

I would think two emergencies will travel - one will be the sub, one just won't play any footy at all. Two others will stay and play VFL.

Inclination that Chugg and one of Bianco or Madge would travel. Chugg not to play, Bianco or Madge to be sub.

Very happy to see DeGoey back in. Like the selection of Ruscoe as well - not a surprise given he was sub last week and has been playing in defence.

Given the lack of "talls" in defence I would expect Cameron/Cox to drop back regularly to impact some contests and take a few marks.

How I hope to see us line up:

B - Quaynor Moore Maynard
HB - N.Daicos Murphy Crisp
C - J.Daicos DeGoey Sidebottom
HF - Elliott Cameron McCreery
F - Ginnivan Mihochek Henry
R - Cox Adams Pendlebury
INT - Lipinski WHE Noble Ruscoe

Chugg/Madgen to be the travelling emergencies/sub.

Carmichael won't debut as a sub.. surely.
Bianco a bit more work to do in the VFL.

I'd like for them to experiment with Grundy as a forward. If anyone has the attitude it won't work, Grundy hasn't had a fair shot at it and as a team, it's healthy to experiment.

Grundy should not just be a ruck. Pure rucks are a dying breed. The best have another trick. For Cameron, it's part-time goal-kicking and marking. For Cox, it's being Cox and his unorthodox self which involves numerous instances of small forward abilities and revving up the crowd. With Grundy, we don't see to much else apart from rucking. To me, developing forward craft is smart move for all parties.

Personally I think he is a smart, natural footballer who was allowed to just play last year
This year he is probably a bit stifled while they teach him team patterns/tactics etc.
He will be a good footballer
