Unofficial Preview Changes for next week vs @Freo

That's kind of what Xerri was doing too, earlier, but Hugh was right onto it. Apparenmtly Clarko wanted him doing that to give Xerri a rest anyway so the only real change was Hugh did it for longer and Chom got up the ground a little more. It was great the way they worked it out.
You just feel in years gone passed, we wouldn’t have a second option or it would’ve been panicked decision making either Larkey being our only key forward going into the ruck or they would’ve sacrificed Zurhaar.

I would rather they omit Stephenson, run with five forwards, 6+1 defenders. Go with something like this:

B: Ziebell Corr Bonar
HB: McDonald Logue Goater (Sheezel)

C: Scott Powell Shiels
R: Goldstein LDU Phillips

F: Curtis Comben Zurhaar
FF: Larkey Turner

I: Bergman Taylor Cunnington Greenwood
S: Young/Tucker

If they persist with Stephenson, play him as a sweeping wing that can launch from HB, he is wasted as a forward.

Run with 4 utility-types on the bench. Taylor remains until we have another player that can gut run 14ks a match. I watched the replay, he gut runs and applies defensive pressure and he is almost an elite mark for his size, but there were quite a few errors in his game which occurred at crucial times. Run with two defensive wings and rely on the HBs in McDonald, Sheezel, Goater, Bergman and Ziebell to launch the offense.
You missed the VC

If I could read Clarko’s thought processes (which I categorically can’t), I think he’ll say to himself:-

Any enforced changes?
IN : Goldstein

What players didn’t perform their roles to the expected standard?

OUT: Bonar; Stevo???
IN: Corr

Did Will do enough to hold his spot. Would he be an appropriate replacement for Stevo?

Clarko’s only head scratcher for next week.

Just in… Result of R1 (Apples and Oranges Comparison Cup)

Bailey Scott 1
Stevo 0

I watched the game from start to finish. Maybe it was different at the ground but from the broadcast I didn't notice Scott a huge amount.

As I said, I'm not saying he (or anyone) was terrible. But next week I want both Corr and Bonar in the backline so someone needs to be omitted and I picked Scott.
Stick to your guns here Bailey was shit as he has been all preseason

First out

Being able to run is not good enough
You need talent and skill also

Clearly, it's Goldy in for X, and most likely Corr comes in. The player to drop out will be unlucky. I don't think Bonar deserves to be dropped and nor does Goater or Bergman, but for balance, I expect it would be one of those three, sadly. Unless there's a niggle that someone else picked up, there will be no other changes. WilPhil probably remains the sub, although I really want to see him play the full game sooner rather than later.
If we need to make room for Corr I would prefer to drop to Taylor (or Stevo) and let Goater play the wing role.

We’re not going to make 4+ changes after a win lads. Goldy will come in for an injured Xerri and someone like Stevo (minimal impact yesterday) will come out for Corr/Dawson for positional needs vs. a much bigger Freo forward line

Calls for Turner, Scott to be dropped are wild reading. Both played their roles really well yesterday, Turner especially

I think he'll keep his spot for now, but won't get near a top 10 BF finish in 2023 . That is what's important.
At some point, the below will all be available

  1. Goldy
  2. Tucker
  3. Corr
  4. McKay
  5. Archer
  6. CCJ
  7. Wardlaw

My mind boggles as to what our selected side will look like.

As for changes I have NFI but hope Tucker plays :)

Corr should play but I'm not sure for who. The obvious change is Goldy in for X, but Clarko has done weird shit with rucks in the past, so I wouldn't be completely surprised if he sticks with a Comben-Greenwood combo and brings Corr in for X.

IN: Goldy
OUT: Xerri

I think Phillips comes in for Scott who had a bad day by foot. I thought Bonar and Ziebell were both good. Can't imagine too many changes after a win. It'll depend on match ups on how many talls we need in defence. I suspect we'll need more runners than talls, so Scott stays as sub.

Tarryn Thomas, as well

A healthy best 22 will be hard to pick

Given the amount of emphasis around the club on “belief”, I’d expect changes after a win to be ‘walk-up starts’ only.

Goldy for X and Corr for Bonar. Give the other whipping boys a chance to build their confidence.

Darcy would monster Chom/Hugh. Goldy should come in. CCJ possible if Clarko thinks he can impact forward, but I doubt CCJ plays ahead of Goldy

Silly question, but how does one go about getting tickets to the game next week. I happen to be in Perth and have never been to an interstate fixture?

In: Corr, Goldstein, Phillips starting
Out: Bonar, Xerri, Stevo sub

Corr a good matchup for Jackson, Bonar just a touch too small for that, Corr adds another experienced assured head to the back half.

Goldy for Xerri unfortunate but obvious due to injury.

Phillips to add more midfield power, Stevo to offer a spark as the sub, simplify his role and allow him to thrive being fresher than the oppo, play to his strength of spread.
