lycett is a average ruckman at best, rarly dominates the hitouts, his round the ground work is below average and ground work at stoppage is only ok. If Dixon wasnt cooked then i'd be playing him as ruck. There is a argument to play hayes as his tap work is much better but outside of that you dont get anything from Hayes and it gives a good ruckman the opportunity to dominate around the ground in general play unless you tell Hayes that outside of ball up he tags the oppo ruckman? try an make it a 60/40 in our favour
At his best, his ground work at stoppage is top 5 in the AFL amongst rucks. He's non existent around the ground, and his ruckwork is average. However he usually nullifies the opposition rucks tapwork and breaks even there.

This season, apart from his purple patch, he's been getting smashed at everything. There is no way he should be getting pushed around by TDK.

Given our midfield mix - I do agree though, we're better off having Hayes play and use his tapwork to further strengthen our advantage in the middle against most teams.

Was Ollie Lord that bad as a defender in the SANFL to completely forget that option. Never seen him play in defence, but now that his got some AFL experience would it be worth a look at him as a defender at AFL level?

Yeah he was terrible, completely lost.

Out: Mead, Jonas, Burgoyne, McEntee, DBJ Lord (just as useless as Georgiades - mentally so fragile)

In: Rioli, Pasini, Jackson, Fantasia, Bonner, JHF (hes had his week rest - no excuses now Jason)

Lycetts purple patch ran about 12 weeks.
Injured a couple of weeks and 1st game back probably still feeling that knee and wasn't as good as the previous 3 months?

Teakle returns to the sanfl this week.

Maybe Lycett gets another break in a couple of weeks?

Take it with a grain of salt, since it is based purely on the AFL Fantasy points, but here is the record of the opposition ruckman when Scott Lycett is playing

Rnd 1 vs Brisbane McInerney 2nd highest ranked for Brisbane (+20 over Lycett)
Rnd 2 vs Collingwood Cameron 2nd highest ranked overall (+63 over Lycett)
Rnd 3 vs Adelaide O'Brien 2nd highest ranked for Adelaide (3rd overall) (+22 over Lycett)
Rnd 4 vs Sydney Ladhams 7th highest ranked for Sydney (+15 over Lycett)
Rnd 5 vs Bulldogs English Highest ranked (+100 over Lycett)

Then deservedly dropped

Rnd 10 vs Melbourne Grundy 8th highest ranked for Melbourne (-12 over Lycett)
Rnd 11 vs Richmond Nankervis 2nd highest ranked overall (+7 over Lycett)
Rnd 12 vs Hawthorn Reeves 8th highest ranked for Hawthorn (+18 over Lycett but subbed)
Rnd 13 vs Bulldogs English 9th highest ranked for Bulldogs (-10 over Lycett)
Rnd 14 vs Geelong Blicavs 4th highest ranked for Geelong (+11 over Lycett)

So a good patch where he mainly broke even
Bye
Injured

Rnd 18 vs Carlton De Koning 5th highest ranked for Carlton (+33 over Lycett)

And it appears we are back to early season Lycett. Is he just injured? Should he just not play if injured?

Lycett has beaten 2 of his opponents this season. 2

I just hope we won’t rush injured players. This week is just another game, the finals are more important
That’s true and I agree fully regarding injured players (which why we probably should have given Lycett an extra week off).

That said, finishing top 2 is critical for our finals chances. I’d much rather Brisbane have to come here than us travel to the Gabba for the first final.

I’m thinking all that matters in the finals is having fit, healthy and in-form players. This especially applies to Butters, JHF, Lycett, Dixon and McKenzie. Get them right.

Fantasia is one game back from injury, he needs to play multiple games in the SANFL.
Give Evans a go: he is the Magpies leading goal-kicker and gets his 20 odd possesiosn each week.

Our wingers were so bad last week, I would promote Lamont.
And the world does not end if we loose; the Pies play the Lions in a couple of weeks.

Wrong again, it's his 2nd game back. He's played 5 of the last 6 SANFL games also.
