We miss Archer so badly.

A few times in the last few weeks (other than the Melbourne game), we've been caught ball watching and loose balls get in the hands of opposition from either a turnover or we've spoiled it to a dangerous spot. From quite a few instances, Archer would clean up those dangerous situations. He's probably the most teachable backline player of the lot when it comes to defensive positioning and attacking the footy.

I wonder where he got that from? 🤔

I'm sorry but I wouldn't blow things up.

Out: McKercher
In: Wardlaw

Logue should be dropped for Pink, but he won't.

I'm not sure about sub. Tucker doesn't suit but no one else really makes sense, as Hardeman should start.

In my opinion, dropping Logue right now would be exactly the wrong thing to do. The bloke has had a shocking run with injuries since he did his ACL against Geelong in 2023.

Yesterday in the second half he started to show some touch and took a few marks. He needs continuity to build his confidence and match fitness and he will do that best by getting a decent run at in the firsts. McKay is out so he should be allocated to play on their next most dangerous tall after someone else takes on the role against Curnow.

Most players do that in the seconds, especially when they're well out of touch the way Logue has been. Agree though. After his second half, where he seemed to finally realise where he was and what the objective of the game was, it'd probably be counter intuitive to drop him. Bloody unfair on Pink, but now we've gone down the path we probably have to commit

Phillips has gone back to the 2’s and he has been in the bests since he was dropped. That’s all you can ask. Tom needs to do the same. That’s all we can do right now, reward good form and demote poor form

Powell is not in poor form, he is solid but unremarkable form in a midfield and team that is getting opened up at will. If we dropped everyone in that group, we would forfeit.

Colby is an example of someone in poor form.

Their profile is very similar to ours.

Strong stoppage team but struggle to move the ball from the back half and also struggle to score off turnover.

Biggest issues for us to solve:
TDK: With Xerri hampered by injury, TDK becomes a massive threat around the ball - fingers crossed they bring in Pittonet and play TDK forward.
Weitering: Can picture him being a wall in defense and marking everything if we move it without method.
Curnow: With McKay and Kemp out, we need to clamp down on Curnow.
Walsh: He did beat up on West Coast but his outside run will kill us if we're not checking him.

LDU can expect the Hewett tag

They had 3 goals from Walsh, 3 goals from Cripps and 4 from Durdin yesterday but West Coast were pathetic on a historic level. They'll struggle to score and we just need to make sure we're cleaner.

PC is our trump card - they have no one who can go with him.

I totally agree on Pink. I thought in the games he has played this year he had done enough to retain his spot. I'm not sure who should have made way instead, but I thought that we looked better with both him and Phillips in the team than we have in the last two games (especially against Sydney).

Out: McKercher (omit), Tucker (omit), Powell (omit), Comben (omit)

In: Wardlaw, Hardeman, Archer, Maley.

F: Curtis, Darling, Konstanty
HF: Zurhaar, Larkey, Sheezel
C: Scott, Parker, Stephens
HB: Daniel, Logue, FOS
B: Archer, Corr, Mcdonald
Foll: X, Wardlaw, LDU
Int: Duursma, Maley, Simpkin, Hardeman
Sub: Fisher
You dont make a statement, drop Scott then bring him back in a week later..

On the Jy turnover, I was spewing on this one because it absolutely killed the teams confidence. I don’t think it was the turnover that was bad (it was) but the casual effort on the kick. Jy had no intensity on the kick, just casually tried to pop it over, not giving due respect to the defender, showing his team mates the Suns were more willing to do the 1%er while our captain thought it would be easy. It totally deflated the group.

It summed up many patches of the game where we just didn’t work hard enough at the little things.
Ah YOU ARE WRONG.. It was Jys team mates fault for not being there to grab it off the hands of the smother, Jy never makes costly mistakes.

Theres a place called the Reserves for that exact thing..

Logue was good enough. He is far more effective 1 on 1 then Pink who I do actually really like as a depth player. There is a good reason we immediately bring Logue back.

Kerch form this year has been poor and it is abit sad to see for me. Had high expectations for the year but the start has fallen well short. I don’t expect him to ever be a defensive stud but offensively he has fallen well short this year.

Obvious outs and ins - worth watching Xerri fitness as he is clearly carrying an injury.

Out: Kerch (managed)
In: Wardlaw

It showed a bit about his leadership too, and how he needs to develop.

It was such a howler that he looked like he wanted to hide under a rock, but he doesn't get that luxury as captain. He had to own the error and motivate the team.

The following 20 mins of undisciplined and lazy footy is a bit on him. You've got to be a hard arse to be a good captain.

Like clock work…

Jim Carrey Lol GIF
So now you're defending the umpires?

Even if he didn't go back off the mark far enough it was still a 50!!! Stand rule is a joke but its still a rule.

He should have had a shot on goal from 15m out.

This was my initial cut - part of me wants to go extra tall up fwd part of me wants more smalls - think it stays much the same.

Midfield mix isn't working not def enough minded? Philps/Wardlaw in to bolster that.

Down back IF Archer is fit then smaller backline I think works this week - otherwise play anyone who can defend but don't roll out tucker and the 3 same talls.

I like a lot about this, but Corr isn't getting dropped, and we're not starting both Zurhaar and Duursma on the bench.

Broadly speaking, we’re just shifting chairs on the Titanic now. Outside of Maynard, this is our cattle going forward. It’s all about playing as a cohesive unit now. Also, we have to go harder for longer. Do that - we win. No ifs, buts or maybe’s about it.

No its just you finding others to blame. I didn’t see the kick to be honest I just pissed myself laughing.
He had a free or a mark and the player on the mark stepped off the mark then jumped to smother it.

The point of the stand rule is to enable the sort of thing JY did. It should have been a 50 which would have put him within 15m of goal directly in front.

But immediately afterward he had a bit of a stuss about it instead of chasing back with the player who made the smother. That did cost us a goal.

But with proper umpiring it would have been irrelevent - that's a twelve point turn around to the GC.
