Getting a bit sick of the Dan Morgan dick riders acting like he has it all figured out and he is the one in our fan base. Going over his first draft and offseason now we know what we know.
Legette: C- (being generous) , have seen others giving this a B, get the **** out of here. You could make a case for this being a D with Ladd on the board.
Brooks: F , sorry, but its got to be an F after doing the same ACL. Really shouldn't have been drafting a RB at the start of rebuild this high, not to mention trading up for him.
Wallace: C- , showed some things like Legette but made a lot of mistakes in coverage. Hes young at least so by no means giving up on him
Sanders: B , showed some genuine flashes. Never going to be a good run blocker but can be a weapon moving forward.
Smith Wade: B-, think he can be our slot corner moving forward. Like what I saw towards the end of the season when the coaches gave him some starts.
Crumedy: (incomplete), not grading him, likely only DL depth but havent seen enough either way and he was only a 6th round pick
Barrett: (traded before the season for Mike Jackson) Jackson was an adequate as a CB2 so in a way this 7th round pick was a decent win
UDFA: Coker B+ , looks a player, could even make a case for this being an A. Morgan's draft might get bailed out here if he becomes the player I think he can be. (Chris Godwin like)
Overall Draft Grade: D. Not good enough with the picks that matter.
Trade with the Rams on draft night from 39 back to 52 seemed really nice at the time picking up the 2nd in 2025 but when you see who they picked with that pick, Brandon Fiske (gun) and who we needed up with, Jonathan Brooks, we are losing that trade unless Morgan drafts a very good player with the Rams second this year. Incomplete so not grading it.
Free agent signings
Hunt: A+, everything you hope youre getting when you pay what you did for him.
Lewis: A-, hes no Hunt but his contract always said he wasn't, still a very good addition.
Jewell: C-, he was fine without being anything great.
Robinson: B+, very good season.
Dane Jackson: F, 2 year deal, started off the first half of the season injured and once he got on the field was straight garbage.
Wonnum C+, thought he was fine once he got on the field, coming off no preseason with the surgery then the blood clots it was actually impressive how well he played if you put it in perspective. Looking forward to seeing what he can do with a full preseason next season.
Fuller: F, more trash. Supposedly knew the Evero system from his time with the Rams and played like he'd never seen it in his life. Thankfully only a 1 year deal.
Nijman: C, good value signing here. Thought he was fine as a backup who can play multiple positions on the OL.
David Moore: C+, didnt expect much and while no world beater he exceeded my expectations. Wouldnt be against bring him back for depth.
Scott: F, see Fuller.
Clowney: C-, I didnt expect much coming from the Ravens off an 11 sack season to play for us, we are worlds apart in terms of talent, and while he wasn't great he certainly wasn't terrible. 2 years for 20m is a bit too rich for what he is though.
Overall FA Grade: A-. Unlike in the draft, hit on the ones that matter that he handed the big money to.
Not grading the Dionate Johnson trade coz it was basically a wash at the end of the day, nothing lost nothing gained.
Overall Grade: C- , Great that he hit in free agency but there is only so much that you can do there given the salary cap, the draft is far more important and it was an underwhelming return. Must draft better moving forward or the ceiling for this team will forever be capped even with Bryce coming on.
Just coz Morgan is not as bad as Fitterer doesnt mean hes great either, I think thats what a lot of Panther fans are struggling to understand. Im certainly not saying he is bad, he did do some good things, there is a lot of room for improvement however.
