K so channel 7 literally said nothing. There was a last gasp attempt to get GWS to trade Cam but it's not going to happen.
That was it.
So glad I watched that... :drunk:

Did they say it wasn't going to happen?

That's all half these tweets from journos are. Vague hints about nothing to keep their name/their employer's name out there.

It's all just marketing via social media.

I do Weller + 74 for StK 14 & 45 (or next year’s third)
Send
14 & 22 & 45 (or StKnext year’s third) to GWS for McCarthy & 66.

That looks fair for Weller we pay overs for McCarthy, but not too much.

Weller is skilled as will be good, but we have a fair risk of losing him.
Save of next year first pick next year to go hard for you know who the year after. ;)
Remember you must use 1 first round pick in a four year period. So if we trade out this years and next, it might make our bargaining in 2 years difficult.

Trade Radio interesting changed it’s tone on the McCathy trade as well, from No.No.NO! to #MCCathyorbust.

I think it will get done for something like the above.

All that GWS will be remembered for in the history books.

Are Pavlich and Sandilands still playing then?

If not, how is it far stronger?

Because we will have Weller, Langdon, Blakely and Bennell instead of Mzungu, De Boer, Pearce and Suban

Also Sandilands will play in 2017 and we still have Griff for after that. Apeness and Taberner will be better players as will Alex Pearce and Johnson will still be there.

Oh and some guy called Fyfe.

Who knows what we can find in the upcoming drafts, especially next years super draft plus we will get Cam eventually.

Of course it could all go pear shaped but imagine if we traded Neale for McCarthy only to have Cam turn into a spud and Lachie to win a brownlow at the Crows.

Who have the Hawks traded out of the quality of Neale during this era of theirs? They just trade out fringe 22 players who look better than they are when they're in a good team... and it's much easier for them to do that because they don't have to convince the player to uproot their life and move to the other side of the country. Instead they just have to drive a different route to work in the morning.

They get who they need because nearly every target they go after nominates them as their club of choice. We haven't had that luxury, and the one time we do the host club refuses to trade unless they get massive overs.
You don't have to explain the being an interstate club with no recent success makes it tough thing to me, I support Adelaide !!

Hawks have in the past traded out picks and players (not as good as Neale) to get the list right - that was my point. Freo do not have the luxury of choice here. My question was is it worth it? I understand the resistance ... but if the choice was one or the other - would your club make that hard-line choice of what is better for the over-all balance?

I am seriously not looking forward to the "Cam McCarthy is over rated anyway, he is their 3rd tall argument." He is a seriously talented kid. I am sure we did our best to get him, however GWS are simply making a stand (Fair enough). But is still pains me that we were unable to land him (unless a miracle happens).

There's always next year. When he's a year out from end of contract, still wants to come home, and GWS have a choice of him walking the following year or trading him for something closer to real market value.
