This is exactly why he should be moved on asap.
No heart!
Happy with all the accolades he received last week.

12 disposals is your typical performance from this guy. A step up from someone like Jordan Murdoch but they're ultimately in the same class.
This has to be one of the worst Geelong-related calls made on Big Footy. Went on to get a Best and Fairest in a year Cats were runners up, then 2 years later as Premiers.

Yeah, there were four or so Geelong posters who really hated Guthrie. I always found it to be incredibly stupid.

Yeh, I probably posted that after he went missing in a final
Was getting pissed he couldn't bring it those knock out finals but he finally delivered this year. Was tremendous all season long.

This probably isn't in catscollectors top 10 worst calls.

His career average of 19.8 touches per game ‘plummets’ all the way to 19.4 touches per game in finals since 2016. His tackle numbers drop by about 0.3 tackles per game.
His contested possessions actually go up and so do his clearances.
Considering 25 per cent of those games were also played under a 16-minute-quarter format, and another game saw him leave the field with injury early into the second, you can probably bump up all those numbers by a reasonable percentage, I’d say you can probably stop trying to fool people with the trademark CC disclaimer (I was wrong BUT…) and just admit you were wrong full stop.

Cam’s career average probably isn’t a reasonable mark, as he has spent a lot of it in the backline. Only started getting consistent midfield minutes when they pushed Ablett forward through 2019/2020.

Like the Blic, he is adaptable and happy to play wherever needed by CS and team.

Indeed, but the only one of those seasons from 2016 onwards where his home and away output was noticeably higher than his finals was 2021 (he was getting 29 touches a game) and even then in two of his 3 finals he had 24 and 25

I think we all posted shit like that about many players over the course of getting eliminated from finals. Loads of cats went missing routinely including danger and guthrie.

Dangerfield rarely went missing.
While we all know that touches with Dangerfield don’t necessarily translate to scoreboard dominance, if you allow for the 4 the 64-minute finals and work on a per-minute basis, he’s had two games of less than 20 touches (he had 18 in a semi final that we won and didn’t get much of it in the 2020 grand final). And his contested possession and clearance count in all those games is predictably high.

Time to put this myth to bed.

agree. Danger had a fantastic 2016 series and was pretty good in 2017 as well. Not playing well - while out of position - in 2020 hurt him.

It’s like judging Dusty on this year’s elimination final.

It’s bizarre to me that for years the narrative that pretty much every cats fan and every opposition fan agreed on was ‘your bottom 6 are hurting you against the good sides.’

Suddenly in retrospect after a GF, prelim and a flag and correcting our finals efforts with a 6-3 run, everyone wants to pot the players who were formerly accused of carrying the side.

Agreed- the notable "missing" comments probably relate most to the 20 GF, and the pretty stark comparison with Dusty that day.

first few pages are a gold mine. Plodder, decent B-grader, ordinary, no better than Cam Ellis Yolman, potato. It's funny that posters on this board will spew out opinions like they know what they're talking about :$

It was absolutely true at the time, though. It's helped enormously that our bottom-end players have improved considerably this year.
