voss on the other hand is usually poor, whilst buckley is has always done well against the brions

buckley & hird have been much better players then voss over their career, yet voss lucky enough to play for a super team so he will retire the most satisfied

Just out of curiousity, you don't count Essendon of 2000 a "super team"? IIRC they didn't do too badly... I personally would be pretty damn "satisfied" if I'd captained that team that year.

brisbane made the prelim in 99, lost the GF in 04

they were up for 5years and took home 3flags, that is a super team

port were like essendon top of the ladder 3years in a row, 2prelims and took home 1 flag

essendon & port not in the same league as the brisbane team that voss was lucky enough to play with

that team is absolutely miles ahead of anything collingwood had in 02-03, yet the pies being led by buckley almost stole a flag from the almighty brions

I believe Brisbane were the favourites in 02 and Collingwood were the favourites in 03. We are only miles ahead in hindsight.

the thing is Voss wasn't brisbanes most dominant player in that period Lappin , black , acker and brown was then Voss. He is a great player who's status rose dramatically of the lions era.

I don't think you'll find many people agreeing with this. Voss was the benchmark. People were compared to him, not vice versa.

He came back to lead his team as opposed to having a drawn out soap opera about whether he was going to retire or not.

Now he is leading his team back to the top where they belong.
