I have been appauled by what we are showing at the moment.

But I think there has been one shining light this year. Brayden Maynard has come on in leaps and bounds and has improved ten fold from last year.

Disposal still needs a bit of work but, the way he tackles, and chases, and reads the ball off the boot, I think this guy has a real future. Capped off by a nice goal today, I think in all the adversity and rubbish football, Brayden can hold his head high, I can't think of 1 player who is more improved this year.

There's room for more improvement but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. While he makes a few shockers by foot he also makes some nice passes as well.

I have to agree with you here. I really didn't rate him last year but he has come on in leaps and bounds this year, particularly in the last few weeks. I hope people just don't get ahead of themselves and think that he will average 20 disposals 8 tackles and goal :p

Him kicking it directly to a Melbourne player when he had no pressure on him and clear options to kick to was a bit infuriating. Considering he'd just kicked a great goal, too.

I like the kid. I think he'll be good. But atm I still find myself cringing when he has the ball deep in the defensive 50

He's not that polished and makes a few rush of blood, poor decisions but, what I really like about him is that he is tough and hard and never gives in. Will only get better and has got a powerful left hoof on him too.

Maynard was okay at best today. He goes in hard and doesn't shirk the contest or body contact.

What does piss me off is when he chips it to Watts in the second quarter with no pressure.

Good quality senior players do not make junior foot mistakes like that. They just don't!

That being said, he has shown a bit this year, so Ill give you that much. He still has a long way to go to be considered best 22 for mine though.

IMO, he is going OK, and has probably been kept in the team due to injuries. The experience wont hurt him, but we need to remember he is still young and we dont have the luxury of leaving him in the twos to get better.

He's a great kid with lots of upside. Has a real crack but needs to work on his skills. Will be a better player with experience and better players around him

It surprises me how many fans complain about the cheap goals the opposition seems to get and how they seem to be on the own, yet are happy to praise a player because he 'has a dip' or has some 'mongrel' in him. I'm not suggesting Maynard is the only one, but I do think you should watch him closely at the MCG on game day and you will see how much he lets the team down.

We don't need that type a player. Unfortunately we seem to have a team that runs one way only. Obviously we have no leaders at the club who are pulling young kids like Maynard aside and giving them a blast for not playing as a team.

Ben Reid is a hopeless leader. I'd play him as a forward because he has done nothing to galvanise the defence. He quietly goes about his job, but we need leadership and he is the most experienced one down there.

The club has failed miserably. I've never seen the club in a situation where they don't have leaders. This is a fault of Buckley and Hine. Hine for not doing more work on leadership qualities before recruiting and Buckley for letting Heath Shaw go. Our backline would be solid if Shaw was back there. He should have been the captain of Collingwood. Pendles has failed miserably as a captain. There has been talk of Adams being highly regarded as captain material. Hopefully that is the case, because we don't have anyone else.
