Just been reading in The Herald-Sun that Brandon Zerk-Thacther remains out of contract, and still yet to find himself a permanent spot in the Essendon lineup
.

He is 22 and from South Australia and keeps on piling upon decent performances in the VFL.

Would imagine he would have several clubs chasing him (not just Port and The Crows). I think he probably does stay at Essendon, but curious as to what his current trade value is ?₩ (Was taken pick 66 in the 2017 draft)

I rate him, while acknowledging his disposal isn't great. I've been very frustrated we've played Stewart ahead of him.

If I was him I'd definitely be seeking clarity on how EFC sees him, and probably looking for teams who will provide more opportunities. If he leaves we probably won't get more than a 3rd rounder, and I think a team will have a bargain. Not a superstar by any means, but a better than average defender who can play for 10 years. i.e. Richards all over bloody again.

Probably a small upgrade on Zaine Cordy. A couple of people have mentioned BZT on our board.
Whether the marginal upgrade is worth the effort of the trading, who knows. Swans may look at him given their two KPD pillars are shorter than him (Rampe 189ish, McCartin 193)

Zaine cordy also out of contract

BZT could be good for us cheap as Tarrant doesn’t have much longer left

Still needs to put on more muscle. He's a little too slow to play on anything but gorillas, which he's okay at but not quite at that "good" stage. And ball in hand, either bang it down the line or give the hands off.

Ideally we'd keep him because he's good depth and I think we look a lot more solid defensively with him in but I'd imagine he'd get a late 3rd at most.

He hasn't played many games this year, but his stats in one-on-one contests have been very good.

He’s treacle slow and poor with the ball in hand. Doesn’t seem like a Bulldogs type to me at all

They could have used him today!
Our two first choice key defenders are out, BZT would be a depth option and only marginal upgrade on one of Cordy/Schache at best. I don't think he'd improve us enough to justify bothering

Would take him to the the roos for a 3rd rounder.
Seems to have shown some things but clearly not in the best 22 and possibly looking for opportunities elsewhere.
Dodo seems pretty hard to work with so doubt it gets done.

A lot will come down to other players as well
Stewart has proven a mature body to play deep, but with Francis potentially shifting forward, could be 2 spots for tall defenders up for grabs for Zerk & Reid to slide into. Leaving Laverde & Ridley free.

But i'd get him moving for more opportunity.

Seriously, there have been 2 deals in the past decade from Dodoro that hasn't gotten done. One was Caddy when Gold Coast was asking for a first and Michael Hurley, the other was Dunkley when the Dogs were asking for two first round picks.

Guys like Zerk get done without a hitch every time. Even if we only get pick 69 or a 3rd round upgrade it'll be open and shut if he wants to go to you guys.

fair enough.
Dodo just seems to have this aura of not being able to get jobs done.

A myth peddled by the media and salty fans on BigFooty for something that happened nearly 20 years ago

I think a 3rd would absolutely get it done.

And I think he'd be a good fit for the Roos. The reality is he isn't the finished product, he needs 30 odd games of experience. Best fit is for a developing side where he can iron out the kinks as the team develops. The Bulldogs really need a more complete player, even if I think in 2 seasons he'd be better than their current options.

I wouldn’t based on his limited disposal and leg speed. I rather we do the rebuild right.
