I don't know anything about Kingsley, hence right now hoping for Voss.

Whilst his previous coaching record wasn't impressive, the guy is a born leader and a born winner. You think about when he was Captain of Brisbane, he wasn't just Captaining youngsters. He was captaining a team full of captains and leaders. Think about how many of those player are either head coaches, head assistance or became captains themselves.

Players seem to love him. He seems to bring out the best in players.

One would hope he has now matured, he has evolved and learnt more from others. Game plan should be something that he can mould a Port style on.

There will be teething and I honestly don't expect guaranteed finals next year, but at least we would have a man that has the attributes to steer our team in the right direction.

If they opt for Kingsley, it would mean he brings the same attributes.

So whoever we do pick, they will have my full support.

Expecting an announcement today. Public holiday tomorrow, and I would expect any decision couldn’t be kept under wraps over the weekend.

Good luck to Vossy and Kingsley, both have been through the interview process, with some serious football talent on the panel.

Whoever gets it, support them with quality assistants and development staff, and we will be back in finals sooner than later.

This will be the key and a huge part of why Teague wasn't as successful as he could have been.

I’ve listened to two podcasts this week (called the Imperfects) run by the creator of The Resilience Project who are big into mental health. Travis Boak and Jack Watts both spoke highly of Michael Voss’s involvement in managing player welfare and getting the program
into the club. Add that to Ollie Wines praise and I’ve certainly started to think differently of him this week.
Fev said Voss was the one who got him help when he had the Gambling issues.

Enjoying the swift turnaround of posters' attitudes towards Michael Voss now its becoming a clear probability. I've said it before as have many others - Brian Cook is a bigger appointment and will have more say on our change in culture/success. Vossy has a lot of strengths and has shown a heap of growth since his last stint as HC. The leadership/resilience stuff could prove invaluable to our group, who have shown repeated capitulation in the face of mild adversity (on field).

Put a few good coaches around Voss and some 'ideas people' with strategic nous, and we're cooking.

Our midfield was still getting smashed by oppositions run. I loved what he brought this season but can you see a group of Kennedy, SPS, Setterfield, Cripps and Dow running with Melbourne, Bulldogs or in the past Richmonds midfield? They can all be good players in their own right but as a group it’s a horrible mix imo. Our saving grace was that we were wooden spooners and got Walsh who was a perfect fit.
It’s interesting that you compare us to Melbourne and the bulldogs as I’d consider them both to be on the upper end of the brute scale with high emphasis on contested ball. They are not overly fast. What they do very well is structure up and make good quick decisions. Two things we don’t do well.

Not sure about TDK to be honest. Has set things on fire. Yep he is young but apart from a couple of grabs an great game against nic nat he has been a tad disappointing.
Did you wanna read that back to yourself?

McQualter contracted for 1 more year and Richmond won’t let him out of his contract for a like for like role, only a promotion.

Head Coach: Michael Voss
Midfield Strategy: Nigel Lappin
Midfield: Dale Tapping
Forward: Brenton Sanderson
Back: Matthew Scarlett
Development: Luke Power

good mix of experience and youth.
Hopefully Scarlett comes but FC said he would take a year off

A mate of mine reckons that Walsh is rumoured to have requested a trade to the Dogs.
Anyone else heard this?

For the record, I don't believe it.
Your mate's spot on. Sammy was furious at missing the top 3 in the brownlow. His dad bet big money on him being on the podium and sammy has been grounded as a result. He blames the club and teague in particular. Was in teague's office ranting for hours, before realising teague wasn't even there. That was the final straw and he requested a trade to the Dogs minutes later. Actually taking a pay cut to make it happen as he is ropeable.

Your mate is an excellent source and you should trust everything he says henceforth.

Agree 100%
The Buckley and Hird era had Voss right there alongside them as the leader of what's widely regarded as the best personel 'team of champions' of all time (with only Essendon '00 and Carlton '95 in its company).

If we can make Voss comfortable by surrounding him with the right people, then his ability to lead a team into battle is second to none. He was unsociable as a player which is what we need.

The only areas we need to see from him are as a communicator to the modern era/emotionally attuned player, and also as a sound tactician. If these are still areas of deficiency I 100% back Cook, Diesel and the others to surround him with who he needs.

This is a Bucks/Hardwick long term type appointment that will end up working and getting us up the ladder
His time at Brisbane was premature and an awesome learning curve.
If you watch any movie, the narrative always has an initial false dawn, followed by soul searching and learning, and finally the earned success. This is that for Voss.
He'll take over a team with a Coleman medallist and a top 5 mid in the comp (with PC who could be in that convo too if he returns to form), and the most underrated defensive tall duo. The pieces are there.

For those worried about defence, I would remind you that with the attacking players on our list we would want to keep an attacking style, but just add the defensive workrate and intensity of a finals side (a la Dogs).

Regardless, I'm pumped!
180° on last week's mood (soz thylacine60).

I can see a lot of backlash to the Voss appointment from a lot of supporters.

I guess their expectations would be low.

Nothing beats defying expectations. Sure beats not meeting them.

Low expectation with grand returns sure beats the opposite.

I would love it if appointment is made ASAP so that assistants, delistings and trade targets can be finalised.
