Milera is almost peerless when it comes to getting out of a jam. Where he lets his talents down is that he very rarely runs and carries despite being exceptionally quick. And he too often doesn't expand his view and limits himself to short targets.
Agree

He’s the guy you want taking risks with run and carry and aggressive ball use

Maybe injuries effect confidence , not sure . But it’s definitely mindset

ButterMill I’m a big fan of Taylor but his lack of running ability does seem to be a sticking point for our coaches whether we like it or not. Personally I think it’s overblown - he’s definitely improved despite still being one of our worst, and the best players rarely make the best runners. I guess it’s more that he possibly hasn’t improved enough and that he still doesn’t do enough work in the offseason.

I’d be lying if I said he’s been training the house down. He’s had a couple of minor ankle issues and has only impressed in spits and spurts. He was decent again today particularly once moved out of the white graveyard forward line but he still doesn’t do as much as the other forward and mids that are ahead of him.

I do worry given he is out of contract this year. If we don’t sign him up early he may look to move for greater opportunities and I think whichever club nabs him will get a gem. You can’t teach his class.
He has a history of performing best when the games start

Sounds like he’s a little bit fitter than last pre season so maybe he can get elevate from last season

If he was as fit as Soligo I actually think he’d be a fair chance to be a better player or at least as good

Of 62 mids with a contested possession ratio of 40% and above, Matt ranks 25th for kicking efficiency. Sam Berry ranks 13th off a higher contested ratio. But this is where stats are misleading, I'd much rather be leading at Crouch than Berry. There's a big difference between kicking the ball successfully to a contest and hitting up an actual teammate.
One thing Matt does these days is hit a kick in space to advantage of a forward

Not something that’s consistently in Berry’s repertoire

Perhaps you'd like to explain why we made such strong overtures to the Suns young developing ruck Ned Moyle before he re-signed with the Suns if that was the case? Extend Strachan please tell me you're not serious?

Moyle was coming over for the chance to replace ROB. Not to be the "developing" ruck.

Their argument is that rucks are easy to find via trade or FA, so there's little benefit in developing our own (i.e. we prefer to leech off the work done by other clubs).

Part of their reason for choosing not to develop our own is that, with only 1x SANFL team in which to play them, it's difficult to give them enough ruck time when we have more than 1 SANFL-based ruck on our list. This is one of the few areas where we were better off farming our players out to the various SANFL teams, rather than having all our players together.

Those are their arguments...

Personally, I don't buy their arguments at all. I don't believe in leeching off other clubs, and hoping that a decent option will appear right when we need to grab them. As for the second reason - if the other clubs can all make it work, despite being aligned with a single VFL club, then why can't Adelaide make it work?
You’re correct re their argument

Lots of clubs consider how multiple rucks effect their state league side negatively
and how that could effect some players development

We consider it more than most ! Not saying we are right

Sounds like we want to replace ROB.

We probably will extend Strachan. He's a body to fill a second ruck role and Adelaide does tend to veer on the conservative side with these kind of decisions. It is very unlikely we'll look at replacing both in one swoop, and those jungle drums with us not being too particularly happy with ROB have been getting louder.

Again, on a fundamental level, we really don't care about our 2nd and 3rd slots, as long as we have a body who can fill the 2nd and ruck in the SANFL.

Yeah with ROB under contract.

You can spin it whatever way you want it but it's very very poor list management to be where the club now finds itself if ROB picks up an injury dread the thought. We must be one of the very few "smart" clubs because very few other clubs allow thenselves to be in this position with ruck back up

Plenty of guys had their development stuffed by him, there was a reason he was sacked.

I'm not sure why he was reinstated
How many of them are still there?
There must be a reason he was brought back too?

ROB, who had maybe 20 games left.

They seem to want to move on from him. If Moyle came over, it would have been to transition ROB out.
