stoked Tex is looking good
From memory he was flying last season too but then tweaked his back on the eve of the season

He played through it because Thilthorpe was out injured because we're so stupid and ruined his whole season

Seems like we have been smart with him so far. Bigman has mentioned that he's been held back from quite a few sessions. Great to see

Tex is looking in the best nick of his career ……has fined right down and looks a million bucks

He should have done this after his knee ACL …… has always looked a bit bulky for mine, which impacted his pace

He’s prancing around ATM like a colt

So just off the scrimmage, it seems Bond is super highly valued as that lock down player..... I reckon he'll be in the round 1 team (on the bench), Nicks loves him.
Would be great to have him chasing Rankine around. Might be a bit away from what we're potentially molding him into as a lockdown defender but would have to be a positive impact for both with this kind of training. Build a bigger tank, make him a viable tagging option and practice his defensive craft against Rankine's skill. Also allows Rankine to get used to running around with a shadow - something we've failed to prepare any of our stars to handle in recent times (Sloane comes straight to mind).

Hughey already has the tank, no worries there.

It could be a list spot thing too while developing a side.

You need a mature AFL ruck and a ready to go backup. Adding a third developing ruck is a list spot that could be used on a developing mid or forward. Eliminate the developing ruck and maybe you're using your list better.

I don't necessarily agree with that, because we generally find it hard to recruit players and most of our talent comes from the draft. But it's a possible explanation

Some of the issue is the number of misses we had - previously raised - in 2018 and 2019. We have had to keep drafting for other areas to try and unearth a gem.

Picking up his kid from memory. Certainly hurt his form early in the year and never seemed to be fully comfortable at any stage

Slow guys with average kicks whose primary weapons are getting to a lot of contests and handballs from a stoppage are useless.

I guess all handballs in a stoppage are the same then? 2 feet to a teammate standing still under pressure is the same as 15m forwards releasing that player from pressure. Surely you understand there's a qualitative factor to stats. Or maybe yoy don't.

Best 22 with the reports so far?

FB: Worrell ~ Murray ~ Michalanney
HB: Hinge ~ Keane ~ Milera
C: Cumming ~ Crouch ~ Dawson
R: Obrien ~ Soligo ~ Rankine
HF: Rachele ~ Fogarty ~ Neale-Bullen
FF: Keays ~ Thilthorpe ~ Walker
B: Laird ~ Curtin ~ Peatling ~ Sholl
S: Jones

Can we please pause on Milera best 22

He’s always looked good on the track but let’s learn from previous experiences

Milera has never done an immediate bounce-back from injury - he needs to build form and confidence through the sanfl

The best thing for Jnr is to come back through the SANFL

100% agree. Should not even be considered. Needs a month at least in SANFL and needs to demonstrate at least a willingness to defend to be considered

Schoenberg - similar to Soligo I thought Harry looked really dynamic and strong today. He probably looks the fittest I’ve seen him and a few times showed the pace he had pre-Achilles. Proof will be in the pudding come actual games but he’s having a sneaky good summer.

Hope Schoenberg can have a decent crack this year, despite sneaking a few puddings (maybe i'm just reading between the lines)

Not sure that Curtin’s in-and-under performance will get anywhere near that of Crouch. At stoppages a Crouch game style is very valuable I would have thought.

Not really, almost all premiership sides don't have a slow accumulator that can't push forward of contests on foot. You can maybe argue a couple throughout the last 20 years, but even that's a stretch.

we've got issues if we're playing berry in 2025.

curtin will get there, not yet though in centre bounces.

I won't be surprised if Berry replaces Crouch. Matt gets it 32 times but Berry only needs 25 to be more damaging. Agree he's fringe going into the season, but if Matt misses and Berry gets another crack, I reckon he could go past him.

One of the stories told was that he tweaked it while trying to break his bench record. We're just so short sighted, playing him at 30% is counterproductive to our outcome and his full season performance. But you can bet we'll do the exact same thing again. It's a Neil Craig philosophy, seniorority and continuity is all that's needed for a flag.

Don't understimate a fully fit Tex....

*IF TT and Fog can take their games to another level this year, Tex becomes a total bonus and nightmare matchup for the opposition.

His leadership, presence and gameday support of teammates is absolutely huge for the team.

I hope he has another 2023 level year, he absolutely deserves it.

Could you imagine. We'd be hard to beat if the midfield starts evening up the contest consistently.
