Perhaps the BIG should be omitted from the title and a new thread Big Fish 2018 started after the trade period.
Let's see how things play out.

i'm i right to assume that trade period of some sort starts this friday?

Tim Mohr, Jarman Impey and Rory Thompson.....at the start of the year I was dreaming about Rocky, Dusty, Fyfe.

It's like when you walk into the club and set your sights on the best looking bird in the club, but when it's closing time your only holding a drink so you target the fat chick in the corner.
Fat chicks need lovin too

How can we possibly get Shiel?

Also can you imagine the media? The simpletons will be confused as shit with Shiels and Shiel on the same team
That would be hilarious

Poor lil Billy hartung name has been thrown up again. Without speculating right or wrong.
Next year first round and a player could surely get gaff If he chooses to come to glenferrie.

Yeah but sometimes you end up marrying her too because she's honest and does the 1%ers.

Yah the guy that crushed Kennedy (goalless at the Eagles peak), Walker and Pav one on one in the finals isn't nearly as good as someone like number 1 KPD Hurley that barely ever plays on the actual best forward, and gets found out when the pressure is on. Frawley is a real backman, the type that doesn't get accolades like Stratton even if he doesn't get the love Stratts does.
Was worth every cent, clearly some don't remember the hell of not having a real KPD for a few years while we had all the talent in the world.
He was brilliant in 2015. One of the best in the AFL. It's now 2017, not 2015. Obviously injuries have hurt Frawley, but he wasn't exactly setting the world on fire early on in the season. Having Lake next to him was a massive reason he was able to play so well. The lack of a quality big second key defender will continue to hurt him going forward. Brand showed good signs, but doesn't look like he will reach Lake's level. Hope I'm wrong.

The following backman are all far in front of Frawley as of today:
Rance
McGovern
Hurley
Talia
May
Rampe
Taylor
Henderson
Liam Jones- yes Liam Jones
Harris Andrews
Dale Morris

Frawley's best season for us was 2016 - when Lake had retired. So he doesn't *need* Lake to be on song. The Frawley/Birchall/Stratton combination was the best part of our side in 2016 - and it was when Stratton went down that the wheels started to fall off of our campaign. Injuries have hurt him? He had one injury that put him out for the season this year. Last year he only missed one game due to concussion.

Frawley is a semi-whipping boy who probably escapes full whipping boy status because we have Hartung and Schoey on the list. With Brand, Burton, Sicily and Hardwick back there next year - and probably one of Stratton and Birchall (being realistic that one of those might go via trade) then I am looking forward to Frawley coming back into the backline next year.

Before Brand?

The point is the only KPDs on our list that are AFL ready are Frawley and Brand. If one gets injured or loses form we are left to pinch hit with medium sized defenders. Nash may get there eventually but is still learning his trade.
Good list management would look to have another big defender on board.

I'm not sure that's right - I don't think many clubs have more than 2 big defenders who are first team ready. I'm assuming we keep Schoenmakers and that will be our cover for the key defence role.

Well, being a Hawthorn Supporter means nothing:(

I don't think the club the player supported as a kid has ever really mattered. The most recent players who supported us growing up, Gibbo, Spangher and Fitzpatrick, were all pursued by the club and not the other way around.
