Strikers picked up Overton and Allen today. Here is how the best team appears to be looking. Stacked with batsman but feel like we are down a good pace bowler.

Not sure if we are keeping Neilsen or if Pope is going to keep.

Matt Short
Darcy Short
Lynn
Fabian Allen
Ollie Pope (keeper?)
Weatherald
Craig Overton
Henry Thornton
Jordon Buckingham
Lloyd Pope
Cam Boyce

Other Squad members
Alex Ross
James Bazely
Brenden Doggert
Carey (when available)
Head (when available but yet to sign

Two more spots available
Neilsen or a back up Keeper?
Tom Kelly
Manenti (moving to Sydney?)
Another pace bowler?
We have more Popes than the Catholic church.;)

A few years into BBL and I still wonder why they have allowed both the strikers and Heat to have almost identical uniforms.

Surely an away alternate uniform minimal.

It's not like footy but from TV viewing point todays WBBL looked confusing with the uniforms.
Spot on

It's as though they ran out of bright colours to use, so had to double up

They could just have each team have a (probably majority black) away strip for the clash.

Alternately, it's been a decade now. They don't really need to consciously avoid traditional regional colours anymore...

... well that would just cause the same problem for Qld and SA.

Subconsciously I see the Rebels as the Redbacks.

The Strikers or the Heat just need an alternate background colour. Both clubs are double bule in essence.
Almost Identical :(

ADELAIDE SQUAD’S ‘STRONGER’ ANDREADY TO STRIKE FOR TITLE

Captain Matt Short has hailed the Adelaide Strikers’ BBL14 squad as better than last season’s and boldly declared it can deliver South Australia its second men’s T20 title. The Strikers went within one victory of making last season’s BBL final –losing the Challenger Final to eventual champions Brisbane Heat – and have strategically signed key internationals who will crucially be available for this summer’s finals, while master blaster batter Chris Lynn is also locked in for the entire campaign. "We’re a stronger, better-balanced team this season and know that when we fire we are going to be very hard to beat,’’ Short said. "The boys did really well last year, considering we lost a few players late for the finals, but we definitely expect to perform better this season and believe we can finish a couple of places higher.’’The Strikers’ only BBL title came in BBL07 and for the first time in a decade they will have a new coach, with former Australia men’s Test captain Tim Paine replacing Jason Gillespie, who stepped down from the role in March. Paine was an assistant to Gillespie last season and Short said he brought "great energy’’ to the group.“There was a lot of positive feedback around Painey and everyone’s really excited about working with him in his new role,’’ Short said. "I’ve worked closely with Painey and with the (overseas) draft we not only looked to try to add more balance to our squad but sign guys who would be available for the finals so that we could keep our team together for the whole competition, which puts us in good stead. ’The Strikers retained powerhouse England allrounder Jamie Overton and secured star England Test batter Ollie Pope, who will also keep for them when Australian gloveman Alex Carey is on national duties. “Ollie is an exceptional talent with a proven track record at the highest-level,” Paine said. "His dynamic batting style and wicketkeeping abilities are a fantastic addition to our squad.’’The Strikers also signed West Indian allrounder Fabian Allen – a left-arm orthodox spinner, power hitter and brilliant fielder, who Paine believes can be a game-changer

Finally the real cricket is almost back.

Good that Adelaide seem to have spent their money on players who can play the full season this year.

Fabien Allen's a strange one. I haven't seen that much of him, but he's not really impressed with bat or ball. But I know he's had a very disrupted career, so maybe this will be the moment it all clicks.

Allen was a weird selection. I thought between Short, Boyce and Pope we had enough spin. I think it's the pace bowling where we are a bit light on in particular in power plays.

For those interested here is my game 1 team
M Short
D Short
Lynn
Weatherald
Ross
Overton
Nielsen
Allen
Thornton
Doggett
Boyce

Not selected
Kelly - Backup only
Scott - Should get a game
Bazely - He may play ahead of Doggett but mostly backup unless there are injuries.
L Pope - I'd play him but can't see how he fits in with Allen in the team.

Unavailable
Head
Carey
O Pope ( comes in for Nielsen in game 3 and keeps with a betting reshuffle)
Buckingham (Comes in for Doggett/ Bazely when fit)

Might be a sign of more Matchup Science (tm) under Paine, so there's always both right and left arm orthodox available. Which I think is overrated, but the bowling attack was basically multiple identical versions of two or three bowlers for the last couple of seasons under Gillespie.

The fact he can smash it around a bit in the lower order is helpful too.
