Thilthorpe put his size on last year while he was out for most of the season with a knee injury. If anything he’s actually leaned out a bit this year, probably focussed more on building his tank. It’s possible that the knee injury was a blessing in disguise that allowed him to get his body to where it needs to be.

However, Thilthorpe had always had a more naturally muscular build than Darcy, so I doubt Darcy will ever get to his size, and nor should he IMO. His greatest asset is his reach and how good his hands are. If he’s one on one he’s practically unstoppable now already. His biggest focus in terms of conditioning would presumably be around how does he get to as many contests of 1-on-1 situations as possible. I don’t think becoming Thilthorpe-sized necessarily adds to that.
Apple doesn't fall far from the tree

Daicos, Ashcroft, Ablett - all built like their parents

Suspect Sam will end up the same as his old boy, and agree that even if he could get to Thilthorpes muscularity that it wouldn't necessarily be beneficial to him

The **** is this guy doing in the thread, he can't even take a chest mark.
Feel like he has really fallen off a cliff. Appropriate because I actually thought he played a lot like Naughton who has similarly taken a 450 moonsault off a cliff. That being said, who wants to be a forward at the Dees at the moment.

It's scary to think Luke Darcy was 197cms. He's closer in height to Marcus Bontempelli than he is Sam Darcy.

It's not so much the height but the body mass. Luke Darcy was proportionate to a person who literally looked like a basketballer.
Bontempelli is tall but you wouldn't notice much of a difference when he is up against Dangerfield, Green and alike.

Darcy always looks like the tallest player out there on the field. He's taller than what's listed on the AFL website (208cm).

Yeah I don't know where those heights are even from. There's an article from his draft year saying he was 209.5, and he's definitely grown since then. I think the general belief is he's at 211 now, but hard to find any evidence of that. In our team photo he looks as tall as English, but when walking beside him looks taller, and in this photo Jamarra only goes up to his chin, despite the list heights only being 11cm different, not a perfect way of doing it given neither are standing particularly straight and different shoes are a thing.

Yeh that's telling that photo. I mean JUH is reportedly 195cm-197cm so there's a good 4-5 inches of height difference there.

He sure has. Mind you, the whole team has fallen of a cliff. Literally everyone has gone backwards bar one small forward.

Question is whether there's anything to salvage. Really hope we haven't ruined him.

If Carlton and Melbourne could combine their trash heap of ruined players it would be one big pile of tragedy.

How is Sam Draper ranked so high?
More clearances, inside 50s as he plays a higher up role. Does what Thilthorpe is doing with more hitouts but the lower score is reflective of Thilthorpe being better. Fair drop from top 3, pretty even from there.

It's only round 4 so will even out. Hogan isn't getting 9 goals this week.

Jed is an interesting watch. I'm glad that he is a beach boy and GC won't have to over pay to stop him going home.
Hey just wondering which post I made that I got wrong? You said it's fine to admit it. So it'd be nice to get clarity on what post you are talking about.

Nah, you were just wrong and got called on it. We all get things wrong front time to time. I have not rated kids who turn out better than I thought. There's no harm in that. Recurring guys who spend their whole days watching these kids, interviewing their families and coaches, with folders full of notes also get it wrong.
We just admit it and move on.
Trying to get closure on this rant and exactly what I got wrong.

He's destroying Harris Andrews which says it all. He's arriving at a rate of knots and he's not even anywhere near his physical peak.
