Post Draft shenanigans: Best 22, Not Round 1.

FB: Archer - Logue - Corr
HB: Goater -WDawson - Daniel
C: FOS - Wardlaw - McKercher
HF: CZ - MWhitlock - Duursma
FF: Parker - Larkey - Curtis
R: Xerri - LDU - Sheezel
I: Powell- JY - Darling - Phillips
Sub: Urquhart
EMG: Tucker - Teakle - Hansen - Hardeman - Fisher - Scott - Lmac

Happy with that. We should be hard to play against.
best 22 not round 1?

as in that is your most talented 22?

either way it should have chom over W Dawson

Oversight. Stick him at CHF.

Think we need to play players in their position rather than throwing them around willy nilly - it's great that they are flexible and gives us options.
i think we will keep chom CHB for 2 more years

then when darling goes he replaces him at CHF

and whitlock goes to chb

First attempt at 2025. Still flat with my initial 2024 prediction which had CCJ as starting ruck and Xerri not required!

FB - J Archer, A Corr, D Tucker
CHB - C Daniel, C Comben, G Logue
C - B Scott, LDU, C McKercher
CHF - H Sheezel, J Darling, J Simpkin
FF - P Curtis, N Larkey, C Zurhaar
Rucks - T Xerri, G Wardlaw, L Parker
Bench - Z Dursmaa, Z Fisher, T Powell, F O'Sullivan, F Maley,

Depth -
Small/Med Defender - L McDonald, Bergman, Goater
Tall Defender - W Dawson, K Dawson, Whitlock, Pink
Mids/Wings - Phillips, Urquart, Stephens
Ruck - T Goad,
Small / Med Forward - E Ford, RHJ, Payne, Konstanty, Harvey, Stevens, George
Tall Forward/Ruck - B Teakle, CCJ

We have a funny looking depth profile in which we are stacked with tall defenders and small/med forwards but very light on tall forwards and midfield depth, makes the Urqhart look better.

I am very keen to see Maley play some football early in the season. I think he has upside and can provide ruck support to Xerri. We have to up our pressure in the front half so I'm assuming that those small forwards will see some action early and pressure will be on Jy, Curtis, Bull and Zane if their pressure isn't up to it.

Ford is an interesting one, seemingly all of the attributes to be a good player, maybe he has to move back to a wing. I'd be interested to see which group he is with over the Summer. We have strong defensive depth on paper. Our defensive structures, ability to force turnover and subsequent ball movement need to become a strength if we are going to rise - it's an experienced back 7.

Fingers crossed for an injury free pre-season and genuine competition for selection come round 1.

HF: Parker - Darling - Powell
FF: Curtis - Larkey - Zurhaar
R: Xerri - Sheezel - LDU

Ideally we'd have Goater for McDonald but I reckon Clarko might want to get him up to speed in the 2's for a few weeks.
Teakle is purely in to give X a chop out when he needs it.

I'll give it a try

Give me fisher and wilphil over lmac and bailey

It wont be round 1, but this is what Im hoping for at some point, with the some further fading in of FOS, George, W.Dawson throughout the year. We probably need Teakle or CCJ in at some point for balance.

I think both the current captains will find themselves in the VFL at some point, which is why neither can hold the role imo.

B Archer Corr Logue
HB Daniel Comben Goater
C Hardeman LDU McKercher
HF Zurhaar Darling Parker
F Curtis Larkey Duursma
R Xerri Sheezel Wardlaw
I Powell McDonald Scott Simpkin

VFL:
B: Bergman Pink K.Dawson
HB: Fisher W.Dawson Tucker
C: Stephens Phillips Ford
HF: George Whitlock Konstanty
FF: Payne CCJ Teakle
R: Goad FOS Urquhart
I: Maley Harvey RHJ Stevens

We will have injuries, but I must say, that VFL side could be utterly dominant. No longer playing midfielders in KPP, it's got height, size and speed and a few preseasons in most positions. As well as some really talented players.

Guys like Stephens, Ford, Tucker, Fisher will shit on the level and we've seen CCJ kick bags and Pink was one of the best state league defenders in the country in the SANFL.

Starting to become quite a difficult team to select and by the end of preseason, there could easily be 6 or so changes to the above.

I think Comben has to play back for his height until W. Dawson is ready at least. Our defense is too short without him.

Can't have more than 1 of Daniel and Fisher in the same backline. Both are too unaccountable as defenders.

Finn to be given the 1st year rookie treatment.

Forward line still feels too slow. Really hoping that one of our more zippy, pressure small forwards put their hand up.

Teakle still required as best option for back up Ruck given that he's useful as a contested marking forward.

Right with you on those teams. (Only real difference with mine was I replaced Lmac with FOS)

On reflection though, I think at least one of Konstanty, RHJ, Payne and/or Fisher will take a small forward role in the seniors for structural reasons. Just not sure which one yet.

This aint a rd1 team more what l feel a balanced side as of today...of course it will change many times from 1 day after draft day to the first intraclub match but it was actually a pleasure for once picking a 1st and 2nd team and how we can now have:
a). Competition for spots.
b). Depth to allow 1st and 2nd yr players to bulk up and concentrate on their positions and roles.
c). Throws a better microscope on what possie we are actually deficient (like BP).

Yep this is a good team for round one by mid season it could look different but this is a good start

How much senior footy do you think Hardeman plays next year?
