At this stage, I figure it looks something like the below for round 1. Assuming they're all available except for CCJ and George, the AFL team looks much harder to beat and the VFL team looks potentially formidable at the level.

Good crack at it, and you’ll be close to the pin. The firsts might take another small fwd instead of Phillips, but otherwise I wouldn’t be surprised to find something like your side is the R1 team

pretty much mine also
just fos to take the wing over bailey scott

teakle in as the second ruck and third tall forward like he was this year

B: Corr Logue Archer

HB: Daniel W. Dawson O’Sullivan

C: Scott LDU Simpkin (C)

HF: McKercher Darling Curtis

F: Zurhaar Larkey Comben

R: Xerri Sheezel Parker

Int: Wardlaw McDonald Powell Duursma

FOS can do the same apprenticeship at half back as Harry and Colby.

Colby doesn't need to be in at the centre bounces (Parker and Wardlaw can do that) but he and Harry should run our offensive transition with Caleb Daniel.

I like Jy to the wing. Our midfield is bursting at the seams and we could better use his running power. It is also a better position to captain from.

Hopefully Will Dawson is ready for round 1 so Comben doesn’t have to play back.

This should be our first fun year for some time.

Team News:

Finally, some genuine competition for spots at North Melbourne.

Jack Darling, Luke Parker and Caleb Daniel all come in for some much needed experience across the ground.

The inclusion of Daniel specifically alleviates pressure off Colby McKercher and Harry Sheezel, freed up to play higher up the ground.

Zane Duursma now finds his spot under pressure, alongside Eddie Ford and Zac Fisher.

Best 22:

B: Aidan Corr, Griffin Logue, Luke McDonald

HB: Jackson Archer, Charlie Comben, Caleb Daniel

C: Colby McKercher, Harry Sheezel Bailey Scott

HF: Luke Parker, Nick Larkey, Jy Simpkin

F: Paul Curtis, Jack Darling, Cam Zurhaar

FOLL: Tristan Xerri, Luke Davies-Uniake, George Wardlaw

I/C: Tom Powell, Brynn Teakle, Finn O'Sullivan, Zane Duursma, Zac Fisher (sub)

Emerg: Eddie Ford, Josh Goater (injured)

It’s a good sign that there is only 1-2 players named in that side that I don’t rate

We are in for a good year

The biggest take away from this for me is how experienced our back 7 is. There should be no excuse for us not be organised behind the ball in 2025 and if we can get the house in order behind the ball we could make very large gains.

FB: Corr Logue Archer
HB: Daniel Chom McKercher
C: FOS Wardlaw Scott
HF: Curtis Darling Simpkin
FF: Parker Larkey Zurhaar
ON: Xerri LDU Sheezel
INT: Duursma, Goater, Powell, Fisher
SUB: Ford

This is what i would be hoping for, LMac needs to be squeezed out ASAP.

Leave the class at HB with skills in Daniel & Kerch would provide great rebound.

Parker, Wardlaw can rotate mid and fwd, great combo.

Thoughts?

you are missing a player on the bench
teakle in as the second ruck/third tall forward

Don’t think I like that

Would’ve given him 2 more years back then switch him forward when darling retires
Why wouldn't you like it?

We have Logue, Corr, KDawson and W Dawson developing back and We have Larkey, Darling and M Whitlock developing forward.

Ummm I wonder where he plays?

CHF.

I don’t see either Dawson playing games next year

I’ve got chom, Logue and Corr as the defenders

Larkey, darling and teakle (2nd ruck) forward

I don't have Teakle being anywhere near a decent NMFC. Yes, he might be of use should we lose Xerri, but I hope not and even still, I'd probably go with Goad in some capacity.

Kallan Dawson is a depth option only. Will is coming off a shoulder reco.

Logue, Corr and Comben is a decent set up.

Darling helps Larkey. We have Zurhaar and Curtis who can more than compete with third tall defenders.

Comben stays back.

Had plenty to drink and thought I’d rewatch our Round 14/15 games-Coll/ Melb just for a bit of feel good hits of summer. Organic growth and veteran recruits will definitely help but it’s the bottom 6 improvement that will define us I think. Dylan Stephens, Eddie Ford, Luke MacDonald, Zac Fisher, Darcy Tucker and and Toby Pink are largely ineffectual players. You could substitute Fisher for Teakle perhaps. If Parker, Daniel and Darling all start then 3 of these miss out straight away. I’m a big fan of Will Dawson and you’d think FOS plays plenty as well. I’d be inclined to keep WiPhi in the team. LMac and Ford are the head scratchers. They either find another level or they’re VFL bound. Sorry, Makers Mark was on special this week 🤣
