Considering we're in the middle of summer, there's nothing like going down to the beach in evening for some fish and chips.

My favourite fish and chip shop along the beach is at Semaphore, a place called Sorto's (I think) run by a Greek or Italian family. Its your real typical 'beach fish and chips'.

If we're eating in at home my vote would go to Barnacle Bill's on Portrush Rd, much 'neater' than Sorto's but its just as tasty :thumbsu:

Sotos is the name. That family has been running it ever since I can remember and I've never tasted fish and chips any better :thumbsu: ...Although it can be near impossible getting near the place, let alone in it on a Friday/Saturday evening on a night like this.

Yep Sotos is the best, just accross the road for me :) closed now though :( only bad thing is its about a half hour wait anyday of the week & they close at like 8

Wattle Park Fish And Chip shop is the best I have ever had in our great city.

Halla's - on Grange Rd, adjacent to the Cheesecake shop. Fantastic. I think theyve won best take away shop for the past two years.

Been there a few times and always feel that it is over-rated - although the chips are good.

Didn't it change hands a year or two ago?? The guy running it before really reminded me of the Soup Nazi in Seinfeld with his attitude. :D

There's a very good fish and chip shop down the Port. Excellent chips, good fish and genuine home made potato fritters. :) :thumbsu:

Down Port Rd, left at Black Diamond Corner, and instead of turning right over bridge, straight on through lights and the fish and chip shop is just on the other side of the lights on the left.

They have won awards as best take away in past years as well.

As soon as I saw the title of the thread I thought of the same place.

I work in Semaphore for a little while each year and always get a lunch or 2 there. Lovely people to. I hope they hang around but I did here a whisper a while ago they were thinking of getting out.

Not in Adelaide (nor Canberra for that matter), but if you're ever in Perth I'd recommend Cicerellos in Fremantle. Located on the other side of the railway tracks, on the other side of the reserve from the Esplanade Hotel.

Best fish & chips restaurant I've ever been to.

There is a fish & chip shop (among other things) on the beach end of Jetty road that has great fish & chips although a bit pricey.

My old man could make the most fantastic chip butties you could ever taste :thumbsu::)

Is the Fish and Chip place still there on Norrie Ave Noddy? Used to be called Norths Seafood if I recall correctly? They were pretty darn good.

The one on King William Road apparently won all these awards.........near greenhill road.

Anybody been there?

I found it alright...not the best though.

The only decent way to eat chips was to pay a bob, for which you got a pretty big serve wrapped in newspaper. Then you'd tear a hole in the top and eat them on the way home from the flicks.
