We're up to round 4 in the afl, and no grass roots footy has started yet. Wouldn't it have been a proactive idea to have the country major league premiers play in a knock-out comp with big prize money. They could a metro comp and country league comp. Play as curtain raisers to afl games instead of money towards interleague. Sandhurst look just as strong, Echuca and rovers too. It would promote grass roots sport and we might see more Joe richards get picked up too
Good call Trent

Saw the first three quarters ... looked a pretty even contest, with North likely with their noses just i front.
Good contest ruined by the usual Cyclone Alfred conditions at Epsom-Huntly and someone leaving the sprinklers on overnight.
Fair bit of surface water.
Anyone know how Sean O'Farrell is going after all he has been through?

Really? North kicked 3 for the whole day. Dragons would have won by 8-9 goals.

South Castlemaine and Burra have opportunities to really improve on 2024 and turn their home grounds into fortresses 2025. Knowing how to play those odd shapes can be such an advantage in the season.

I just don’t see square strath and to a lesser extent Gisborne having any improvement at all on last year.

Based on recruiting Neon your comments about Square, Strath & Gisborne are not illogical. However these clubs have a habit of consistently introducing players from their junior ranks who come in without any fanfare and do really well. Also Gisborne and Strath don't have to improve to be competitive, just maintain the standard they set last year. Both would still be smarting over their very close losses to Sandhurst in last years finals.

I know not a bfl related comment, but how is Ethan Curran starting on the bench for the pioneers, the kid is a star. He's dominated senior footy, yet there's kids on the ground that played bfl under 18s last year
Very good player. Agree with your sentiments but he simply could have been part of a rotation with him starting off the ground

Starting off does not matter. He’ll be in a rotation it’s no biggie. What you need to see which I don’t think is available to everyone is time on ground. If his time on ground is considerably lower then you’d have a problem
