Some loser with no life has uploaded every single Becker episode onto youtube.

So I've re-watched mostly all of them now :o

And I just remembered what a clever show it was, Ted Danson is fantastic.

It suffered from being too sitcommy at times, with the annoying music, laugh track, and by season 5 when reggie left it really jumped the shark and it was obvious they ran out of ideas since they started turning it into a romance/ soap sitcom ala friends

that's why i think if it was made today, on something like HBO, and wasn't restricted by sitcom rules, PG rating or the need to be politically correct - in the style of curb your enthusiasm, it would be one of the greatest shows ever,

Did anyone used to watch this show back in the day?

I'm a fan

I loved the show. I thought it went pretty shit when Reggie and Bob left and were replaced by less funny characters, but I was a huge fan. Big Ted Danson fan generally, too.

didn't mind the show but i'm a huge danson fan.
nothing he will ever do compares to the genius of cheers, the greatest comedy ever.
so much of a fan i even named my first born, sam!

sam - "what are you up to norm?"
norm - "my ideal weight, if i was 10 feet tall"

:p

But yeah, good for a watch, I spose.

Not outstanding comedy by any means, but it's one of those shows where I'll watch it when it's on, but won't rush out to get any DVDs or whatever.

Ted Danson is value in just about anything. Even on Curb as "himself".

Eh, probably a bit underrated, but it's not hard to name a long list of contemporary shows that were better. Frasier, Malcolm in the Middle, Sex in the City, That '70s Show, Ally McBeal... personally I hated Friends and Everybody Loves Raymond, but they're arguably on that list as well.

I liked it, mainly because it was quirky, Danson is great, and (unusually for a US sitcom) it didn't shy away from darker themes sometimes. But to be honest, aside from Becker the rest of the characters were pretty much just cardboard cutouts who had some good lines. As noted, the show jumped the shark in a big way when Reggie left.

It was a solid second-tier sitcom. That said, it was a hell of a lot better than the second-tier dreck we've been subjected to in recent years (Gary Unmarried, According to Jim, Two And A Half Men).

I've either bought or downloaded every single series and have been watching them since 2004.

I'm up to season 11 episode 20 :o :(

Another Becker fan here, it was an awesome show. :thumbsu:

Ferris I agree with you, Danson is a brilliant actor. I loved Cheers as well.

I thought S5 wasn't too bad as Bob was still there but once he left it was crap.

At it's best a very funny sitcom but not in the same league as Frasier,Seinfeld etc.Probably on the same level as the likes of Just Shoot Me or The Nanny.

I was a Becker fan. I've got the first three seasons on DVD. I agree that it was underrated.

I think the problem was some people would not have taken to the Becker characters negative attitude. I had trouble with that as first, but one day i sat down and watched it and I got past that and enjoyed the show.
