They had some dropped catches early on as well, even before the Bancroft Sams collision. Other than allen we looked clueless against spin, just like last year.

Don't really begrudge them after losing two players like that
Nah everything went their way tonight and it still took a last ball inside edge to win it. They’re didn’t play good enough cricket to win it and anyone that says otherwise is kidding themselves. Even the collision ironically worked in their favour. Sam’s last over of pies replaced by a spare batsman for the chase who ended up being the difference. Play that chase again and they don’t win one from the next 9.

177 is a good score dont get me wrong. But Perths 4th and 5th bowling option tonight looked poor. With a Jhye Richardson and Ashton Agar and/or Josh Inglis/Mitch Marsh- Thunder dont have a hope chance of winning that. Didnt know Inglis was ruled out before tonight for rest of tournament. Spoors did look alright in his only over. Turner looks cooked as a spinner, dont know why SOK in commentary ranked his bowling.

Tye strikes me as a bowler that bowls well as a team member rather than being a leader of the pack. Morris bowled alright tonight. Morris very much a better bowler on the home decks than away from Perth.

With regards to Hurst, if he is Perths only option, I dont think he should be anywhere near the Power Surge /Power play overs. He stalls the momentum too much and also maybe puts a bit of extra pressure on the other end.

Hilarious that the commentary around the game is all about how courageous the win was. Come off it. They lost two crabs and replaced one with a bloke that starts every game anyway.

Missing a whole heap of our best (who just warm the bench for the test team) definitely isn’t helping. I know others have big outs but we can barely count the NSW guys at this point so only Adelaide really has an argument.

No Hardie/Marsh to bowl, Inglis keeping and top order batting, Richardson powerplay and death bowling. Definitely cost us this game and potentially at least one other

The other replacement was a bloke who hadn’t even played a game though…and we’d rather Sams there than Davies off a sickbed

It's funny to me how quickly everybody wants to rag on BBL and T20 in general whenever there is a big, entertaining test series on.

Two blokes collide in the field like they're playing in an AFL Grand Final, and their sub replacements win the game with 15 off the final over in front of 46 000 opposition fans.

It's genuinely a blessing to enjoy all forms of the game!

Hurst is a waste of a spot. Finn Allen can do a bit of keeping and has done it in the past for sides. Id even put the gloves on him , freeing up another spot for a proper batter and even all-rounder.

Hurst looks lost and out-of-depth in this league. If your an opponent, you would rather him stay at the crease in the Powerplay. Ask yourself this question would you rather be bowling 4 overs with the field up and in the inner circle to Cooper Connolly/Nick Hobson or Hurst. Hurst be lucky if he can clear the inner circle.

Id play a 'occasional' wicket keeper over Hurst at the moment:

Hard to believe Hurst has ever picked up a set of gloves in his life before this season. I’d back half the other blokes out there to do a better job even if it was their first time. You can cop the low strike rate if he’s a tidy keeper but he’s neither. Curtis needs to be straight in.

Didn’t like the legside stumping?

I’m shocked if true. I’d like to say I watch a fair amount of franchise /white ball cricket. I’ve never heard of his name before he was recruited this season.

Matt Hurst batted like an absolute farmer out there last night. The reality is he has no power and it’s one thing smacking boundaries on the smallish English grounds in comparison to the bigger Australian grounds. The days of playing a ‘specialist keeper’ are gone in T20. In the longer forms , you go for the best keeper. But you don’t want to be too 1 dimensional in this format - to which Hurst is being found out.

Don’t let that one piece of wicket keeping cover up what an average player he is.

If your an opposition inside that powerplay , you’d be happy to drop a catch if it came from Hurst. His innings last night 23 off 23 balls probably ended up costing Perth the game- it was a poor return given the nature of the wicket.

Yeah that was handy to be fair. Was also one of the only ones he’s gloved cleanly all tournament and that includes return throws.

There is absolutely club cricketers that would keep better than him which means his batting needs to be a point of difference, and it clearly isn’t.

Not sure how much he’s on but even if he’s cheap it’s too much. Joel Curtis would genuinely offer more at this point.

Feel like the salary cap needs a rework for international players because most teams are the same. One marquee guys and a bunch of nobodies. Even the “guns” are average cricketers like Overton, Billings Walter etc

Don't think I've seen an import as bad Hurst since Harry Brook was out here... he clearly went on to be no good.

Agree that Curtis should be sitting around scratching his head. I like the look of him and a local. Also agree that maybe pushing 3 import spots into 2 could see more 'quality' but then again are people going to get excited by the modern day T20 mercenaries?

Unless we replace Inglis with Curtis, he's not in the squad.

🎯

Yeah laughable isn’t it ?

46000 for regular season game , big crowds over most of the league, blokes knocking themselves out in the field , others getting injured trying to stop fours etc but no, a few oracles on BF constantly frothing to declare the bbl as nothing more than a Mickey Mouse league that know one really cares about as if it’s some sort of flex 🤪
