I really rate him and hope he continues to do great but you yourself would know that BJW is firmly an independent promotion that doesn't really compare to globally recognised brands such as AEW, NJPW, NOAH, WWE etc.

All Japan I think for the most part is a legacy brand now. Kistan could probably tell us more but I don't really consider them a big deal so much in 2024, 25-30 years ago though is a completely different story.

Xena trained with PWA and wrestled with them and their affiliates for the first 3 years of her career. She worked 10 Black Label shows, not one. She also wrestled at MCW 5 times, not just once. After she left, apart from one off appearances in Newcastle, Perth and Sydney her Australian resume boasts 10 FWA matches (Which is a relationship she got from being PWA affiliated). If she isn't a PWA wrestler what would you associate her as? An FWA wrestler?

My point is that all the best talent aren't in those 5 promotions. Do you genuinely think that none of Australia's best wrestlers wrestle outside of those 5 promotions? What about when one of the big 5 recruit from elsewhere?

This is a good example of my above point, you really rate Eugenie, Eugenie has predominantly wrestled for All Star out of Sydney (Who MCW got Erika Reid Vs Eugenie from) and IPW out of the Gold Coast. She has now been recognised by the "bigger" promotions. Was Eugenie always a star or did she only become one when MCW and PWA booked her?

You know, if you're going to re-write/reinterpret what people have written to suit your own asinine argument you're just going to go back on block. It's insincere, it's akin to lying.

All Japan is the biggest gainer of the last 2 years. They pretty much sell out Korakuen 95% of shows now. Best young stars + 2 of their top guys have a regional travel program in the Sendai region and that's pushed them to number 3 behind Stardom and Njpw. They've developed 6 people at once and all come up together. Really changed the game for them.

Bjw still gets sponsors and funding (I sponsor one of the part time guys there) but I've been to shows that have drawn 50 people this year. That's said if I had to pick somewhere to learn it would be BJW. Zeke is very lucky he gets endless reps there with Nomura, Abe and co.

BJW are also one of the few companies left that still do long tours, so he gets more bang for his buck

I wasn't aware of the rise of AJPW so going off what you're saying I'd count them as major also I guess, they definitely weren't major when Slade Mercer wrestled there though.

Misinterpretation happens sometimes, my point is simply there are wrestlers outside of the top 5 promotions deserving of big overseas opportunities. Sure, the "bigger promotions" should have it happen more frequently but we as a group can't come up with anyone outside of those 5 promotions who has got one ever, I'm sure there's someone but not in the past 10-15 years.

never hear any buzz for All Japan though.

Watching the twitter feed tonight, I can only imagine that Rocky also forgot that there was a Wrestle Rampage show tonight that Tommy was booked on.

There were a few people that made sense as the 5th man, this wasn't one of them!

I know this is inexorably heading toward Ugg/Slex but the bloke I reckon they should put the rocket on is Gabriel Aeros. He is so good and so popular.

Alas, we’ve got a three stages of hell tag match instead. I have no idea what that entails but it’d be great if the final stage was decided by a penalty shootout.

Rapid v Waterman was every bit as good as advertised. It almost made me forget about his match against “the first wrestler in Qatar” (though we might reasonably expect that fella to improve when he finds a second to practice with).

Finally, special mention to Lucas Fantasia - on a quality show, coming in without being known to the audience, he was really good.

There was no one match as good as Brooks/Ali, but it was stronger top to bottom than the last show. Though I would be helped to understand the finish to Tuckman v Lucky. I assume Tuckman falling off the ropes was a spot but I looked away.

Endgame should be fun. I like that it’s a Sunday too.

Mikey Broderick was amazing in the role... just wait to see it first

I don't doubt it for a second, Mikey is incredible, it's never made sense that he isn't a regular cos he's over as hell. (I wonder if we all should've guessed it with his boy Fantasia on the show.)

But when you've spent the whole year telling a story, and you get to the penultimate show and don't have the elements of that story in place to piece together? That has to be considered a fail.

They must've known for a couple of months they wouldn't have Tommy. They have known for months that they wouldn't have Delta. I guess the next most obvious was Buddy, and maybe he's a guy they wouldn't have been able to book til the last minute, if at all. If they'd pulled a lever earlier in the show, it could've even been Jarvis. And after that (I have no idea whether he was on WR's show tonight) you're probably just reaching for an Adelaide connection that the crowd is familiar with, so Nick Armstrong probably might've made the next most sense.

Lucky for them they had Ugg I guess, it would've been pretty easy to bail on the show and spend a few days in Japan on holiday, or even looking for more bookings.

How did the NCs vs M3 come across? Was it just a retcon from the last show?

While I wasn't keen on going, I look forward to watching it when the stream's available. I could potentially be swayed into the Pavillion if this show is as amazing as you make it sound.

Based simply on the twitter feed (and comments in here) it sounds like MCW had an incredible show tonight which is very cool to hear. I’ll definitely be checking it out when it goes up on demand.

Here’s hoping they’re able to keep the momentum going with Endgame.

It was so high energy. The main event got a standing ovation. So well laid out. The last few minutes in particular. You could clearly see where everything is going.

Really enjoyable show last night. Maybe a bit too much comedy in the first half for my liking. I also thought the blood capsule in the women's title match was pretty hokey and detracted from the finish. Second half was great.

I don't understand the hate for the Icon$ storyline. From where I sit, so far they've managed to use their veterans to elevate Ugg and the Parea to another level. It's introduced Ricky South as a credible force and the Jarvis face turn is gaining momentum nicely. I think Dusk is getting lost in the shuffle a little but time will tell.

As for fans jumping off MCW, the show was as close to a sellout as you can get last night, and this was during a period where they were essentially promoting three shows at once. Endgame has pretty much only bronze and standing room left and the show is 6 weeks away. At these shows I see all types of people; lapsed WWE fans, hardcore wrestling fans, Thornbury hipsters, casuals and kids. Their booking may not be everyone's cup of tea, but they clearly have a vision for what they believe is needed to take local shows to the next level and so far the numbers indicate that they're on the right track.

I heard this one girl (20s) on the way out tell her friend "thanks for bringing me i would have never come. That was incredible"

Been to most shows this year, but missed last night.

But pretty much every show has been absolutely electric, and left me feeling buzzed when leaving the theatre. I've brought along a mate who used to go 5-6 years ago, and he's loving it again. He's started bringing a mate of his now too. People are loving what they're doing.

After Vendetta, the only thing I was worried about was running the same thing too long. The heat generated by the Icon$ has been as good as its going to get, and there's only so long you can keep that up for. Without knowing what happened last night, its obvious big things will happen at Endgame. BUT, if neither the Tag or HW title change hands soon, it could make things stale fairly fast. There's needs to be a pay off for the faces and for the emotional investment the fans are putting in.

Either way, had my tickets for Endgame since they went on sale, can't wait!!

I’m with you, I love the icons stuff. this is what the whole icons story has been building too. all the things people have hated all year on Saturday all blew up on them when the baby faces came together and endgame being the big pay off to the year of heat.

Running shows like they do some pay offs are going to be further down the line than if they were monthly.

The Parea got to be winning the titles at Endgame if or not the world title changes hands as well. It’s the right time and then move on from this really build the tag titles around those two while MCW still have them before they get signed any time soon. They’re clearly making an effort to establish teams with the Midnight 3. I’d love to see them bring in some other solid tag teams from around the country that don’t get the same love. They have Eugenie now, maybe Kulture soon?

Nothing against the velocities, just how many times can the parea wrestle them and the classics in some variation.

I don’t think Dusk is lost in the shuffle just not the main focus now. I’ve really enjoyed the way he’s become a face a little more each show instead of forcing him to have a turn. It feels like the crowd are turning him themselves more than just oh it’s the story so cheer now. He and Ricky are clearly setting up a match at endgame, they built Ricky coming in around him taking dusk out for the icons at ballroom and vendetta and now dusk is going after him.

If dusk turned and was just the top guy it would’ve feel forced, they’re building him up I imagine to be more prominent in the main event scene next year. im guessing they’ll put the Ballroom title shot on the line at Endgame and that’s Dusk ready for the next year.

I got to guess we have Ugg and Slex at Endgame? I could see why Ugg would win the title but I’m not sure where you go from there. I always prefer Ugg on the chase than being champion. I really thought Mitch or Tommy would be the ones to beat slex but with Mitch in Renegades I don’t know if they may want to keep their main belt away from him. I really assumed with their history it would be Slex and Tommy. That feels like the right story but they don’t seem interested in telling it.

Rob and Jarvis are a highlight of the show every month, along with dusk, I think these are the bits they’ve invested in so they can pull the trigger on them to take their place at the top of the card because they’re all great. I imagine Jarvis turns and wins the title at endgame but I was certain he was turning on Saturday so I’m not sure now.

I love the story they’re telling with Erika, she’s been my favourite thing this year. Eugenie is clearly a bit green or nervous being on the mcw stage but I think there’s alot there.

For all the complaints through the year I think they’re building to the the end of the year perfectly. Really excited for endgame. Already got my tickets.

So we have

More than likely
Ugg vs Slex
South vs Dusk Sacrament
Parea vs Icon$ 3 stages of hell

Pretty good card there by itself

God, I'm so happy for her and so proud of her.

And knowing that there were WWE scouts in attendance for at least 2 MCW shows, I think the fandom can feel as though they're a little part of Zaria's journey. Debuting at the top of the NXT card is pretty cool.
